I have the 4.6 and seem to have had a similar issue

 

What year? What engine? I6 v6 v8?

 

You've got a modular motor, and they differ from the later 4.6 which I think are Triton motors....don't think yours is.

4.6 and 5.4 are both same block. Relatively same issues

Yes on the 3 valve motors. Mustangs with early 4.6 have the spark plugs shooting out too

I learned to install a helicoil on those 5.4s

The 4.6 modular were 16v in the gt and the cobra and maurader were 32v

 

My buddies 01 mustang shot 2 plugs out before he sold it. Hate the earlier 4.6 motors.

I've only owned 1 GT and 1 Cobra; the GT was a bullitt in 01 and I swore it was a 16v.

I know for sure the Cobra was 32v; I had a pre terminator
