I had a spastic moment typing. Edited above. 40 is a better drive for bits and pieces, but not as fast. I like the hills through AL, but W TX is a total drag. Nice stops E of Albuquerque and in Flagstaff, but then right back to more crappiness.

Last time I was out 40 we made a ton of stops. Nashville, Memphis, Cadillac ranch, ran a bunch of sections of Route 66 that parallel 40 and checked out a bunch of little ghost towns, it was pretty cool

My brother picked up a set of mud terrains but didn't realize they were manufactured in '02. There is no dry rot that I can see, they almost look better than my tires, but are they safe to drive on?

As long as there’s no obvious dry rot it should be just fine.

General rule of thumb is 6-10 years. Not saying he won’t be able to run them and everything will be fine, but technically the rubber starts to deteriorate and break down the second they leave the plant. The chances of having a blow out or other serious failure is pretty up there. On a trail rig run the fuck out of them but for something that’s gonna be run up and down the road $1000 for new tires is much cheaper than replacing a totaled truck or worse.

*that being said my ‘79 ford still has a set of bias plys on it that are so old they don’t even have a dot stamp:anonymous:

@Sub-Zero, You were that deep into the dash and you couldn’t spend the extra 15 minutes to get rid of those horrible orange cluster lights:annoyed:
