Amazon bumper after new frame and deer encounter?

So I was on my way home from the dealership, picking up after getting my frame replaced (!) and I hit a damn deer. Didn’t hit it too hard more tagged it’s hindquarters sending it for a spin then it ran off, but probably wasn’t unscathed. Anyways I wasn’t unscathed either about 4 or 5 of my components in the bumper/ fender/ headlight area have broken plastic tabs so there is a section kinda hanging and a few others that are loose and jiggly.

I maintain my truck really well mechanically, I want it to last a long long time, but I do sort of let it go aesthetically. It’s essentially a farm truck now after all, I have no interest in paying big bucks to have it fixed properly, I don’t want to get insurance involved cause that just seems like a headache that will still probably cost me money and increase my rate, so I’m just going to get everything back into place myself with hidden zip ties or something as long as it doesn’t look bad. Anyways, budget is always a concern, can’t really justify too much spending on things I dont really need for the truck but I saw this bumper on Amazon, thought it looked good but maybe too good to be true for that price. Anyone ever hear of it?

 

145lbs is probably too heavy for stock suspension, so factor that in to the price of the repair. You’d need new shocks/springs to handle the extra weight.

I figured, I have recently installed 5100s on stock coils at the moment, but I’ve never liked the soft feel of these coils, wouldn’t mind a stiffer spring anyways. I more dreaming/ thinking of a long term solution than what I can afford at the moment, but even long term I can’t personally justify some of the pricey bumpers most of y’all run.

 

Mostly the price but I like that it’s more stocky in appearance near the sides than most of the ones I see by venerable fabricators. I know the tapering acute triangles over the wheels are functional for off-roading and approach angles, but I don’t like the aesthetics of most the ones that I see. Plus they’re expensive. I’d definitely remove the light bar from this one. Not a light bar guy. And in all honestly I probably won’t buy anything, just make driveway repairs to the minor damage. I have other things to spend money on. Just seeing what sort of inexpensive options may exist and what others may know in case I do get a wild hair.

It’s made in China and IMO ugly as sin. OP, in the long run I think you’d be more happy with a more reputable brand steel bumper or if you say it’s more of a farm truck, I’m sure a local shop could fab up an ugly but strong steel bumper. I can imagine you hit a big pothole and that weak China metal mounting brackets may snap. I have no experience with this bumper, just pure speculation and bad experiences with other metal products from China so take it with a grain of salt. Also anything over 100lbs you’ll need new springs to keep from bottoming out.

I do like the ARB the best from what I’ve seen and they’ve gotten great reviews, but I’m not going to spend that much. My father in law is a welder maybe that could be a good project for us down the line, make a simple ARB-esque bumper.

 

Most of the damage I’m worried about is to the grey headlight housing anyways so realistically a new bumper isnt even going to solve my problems. Haha

ARBs are nice but very HEAVY. I had one and ended up with a CBI.

You get what you pay for. Made in China. Quick seller won't be around to return it.
This is the same bumper as the other "3-piece" bumpers you see. They are all made in China. There are small LED and logo changes. The bumper is stout in the center. However is has some issues.
First the quality and shipping is what we all expect from China, it sucks. The parts are not perfect. There is left over weld slag all over. Some weird warps and bends, my warps came out when it was all bolted together. But the parts are not packed well enough to escape damage. I had a number of scratches through the coating.
The install is not as simple as one would expect. Taking the old bumper off is easy, just keep taking stuff off. There are plenty of you tube videos on it.
Installing this bumper creates problems you will need to deal with. If you want a bolt on bumper this is not the one for you.
In the front for the bumper to fix you will need to CUT out parts of the mounts (4 pictures of the left side headlight are shown)- this includes the lower support for the main headlights, the connection point for the trim under the headlights also needs to be removed, left and right side. These holds the middle brace above the bumper which in turn holds some of the grill attachments. So you will end up with an unsupported front grill, inside lower headlight braces gone and no trim under your lights (which really stands out). For my install I had to swap the left and right light support brackets and trim them to support the bracket to mount the under light trim. That bracket also needed to be trimmed. (Trimming is using a cutoff wheel and modifying OEM parts that cannot be re-used in their original configuration.) This allowed me to support the headlight and enabled the under headlight trim to be re-installed. Look at their pictures you will see the headlight trim is "white" because they know it can't be installed with their kit.
On the sides- Visually it is a complete abortion (pictures attached). None of the bumper side extend long enough to line up. If they had extended the sides 6" it would have covered what the original bumper covers and would have looked much better. The next issue is the wheel well trim. I bent mine up and tie-tied it up to whatever I could find. The end look is not clean and just looks forgotten. Their pictures don't show what the side of the truck looks like for a reason. The front quarter angle picture they show does not illuminate what a terrible look the bumper has from the sides.
If you don't care what your truck looks like, don't have the $$, you want more angle in the front for climbing and you want to mount a winch then this bumper will work. And if you are mounting a winch you won't be able to reach the wench clutch lever if you reinstall the grill.

If you want a complete bumper that makes your truck look good also. This is NOT the right bumper.

Personally, I will be returning this one a spending the extra money for a reputable bumper.

Then the seller will disappear from Amazon and start under a new account like this one.

 

throw some jbweld on the headlight plastic bracket and call it a day.

 

Plastic weld your old parts and the put epoxy over the weld, it'll be stronger than stock, and itll cost you $5 and time.

 

Buy once/cry once.......complete ARB install with new 886 coils....5100's on -0-

labor for bumper & struts & alignment......$2K IIRC last March
