My Drifter is cover u set my insurance as well. Matter of fact my Flippac was too but I upped the coverage with the Drifter

I believe I said I would post a photo of my roof racks. I built these using a PL worked up from a guy I know.... and then made the riders out of some leftover extrusion. It takes some doing and all said and done probably doesn’t save any money lol but they work and look fine. Any of you wanting racks I’d opt for the front runner offerings Vagabond has

Eazy-E, this is a great photo. Thanks for sharing. Seems super helpful for those trying to figure out how to put boxes up on L-tracks. Wish we would have had this last year. We are completely happy with our Yakima tracks and towers, but spent a lot of time trying to figure what you show with L-tracks, so probably helpful for a lot of people.

 

Hmmm. When I called a couple weeks ago I was told the “serial” number would be given at delivery.
As our insurance provider needs a “number”, they said to contact them once I have it.
Would be nice to have it ahead of time...

 

Pemco was a breeze. We are camper #38, no number required, just a description and value. It had minimal impact on 6 month cost of coverage.

 

State Farm here in Durango was really easy as well. Didn't require a serial or anything - if it's attached to my truck, it's covered. I was skeptical and quizzed them on this, but they said so long as I have receipts for anything attached to the truck - Drifter, interior buildout, armor, etc - it's covered. Didn't cost any extra either. Sounds too good to be true, doesn't it... hmmm...

 

hmm, State Farm here in CA wanted the serial number and the endorsement section of my policy specifically calls out the drifter --> "D250 AND G500 EXTENDED TO THE 2019 VAGABOND OUTDOORS CAMPER; SERIAL #XXXX". And just checked, my bill was closer to $50 more after they added the endorsement not ~20 as I had originally thought for the 6 month window (liability, comprehensive, and collision all went up slightly).

 

I'm going to ask again, just out of an abundance of caution... but that's what they told me.

 

Guess insurance agents in California aren't as easy going. With the options I choose for my Drifter, the cost of my 2 ARB awnings and Road Shower, the insurance coverage value was $13,300. I got Comprehensive and Collision coverage (losses would be paid out on actual cash value, which includes depreciation), $5.70/6 months at Farmers. But must be my untrustworthy face. I had to present my receipts and photos of the Drifter actually mounted on my truck, and also give a serial number.

 

Hello everyone...

Long time lurker and new member here. I placed my order on July 13, 2019 have been told middle-to-end of May 2020, so approx. 10 months for me. So freaking jazzed and excited to pick this thing up!

Questions for the group on the Front Runner gullwing doors:

1) Can you open them from the inside? I know they're meant to open from the outside, but is there any way to make them open and close from the inside?
2) I live in Alaska so bugs are a big deal. Anyone run into issues building a screen to keep the bugs out on these style openings? A slider style window is obviously easier in that respect, but they won't truly open to allow me to pass gear through them, etc.
3) Any issues with weather sealing people have had? It rains a lot in coastal, AK and part of me is thinking skip the windows altogether for more water-proofness, the bug issue above, and better insulating properties come winter.

Still a bit undecided, but the gullwings are currently the MOST appealing because they're the biggest cut-out and because they're solid panels to block prying eyes vs windows.

No, you can't open them for the inside. We haven't tried to build a screen. I agree with your slider window assessment, also I think they can get scratched more easily. When we've had bugs, we turn the fan on high and that seems to suck them out somewhat at least.

No windows would be more insulating and more of a pain - trade off. Not having a window on one side means you can attach things to it (maxtracks, etc) which has its benefits. We have two front runner gullwings and I think we could have gotten away with 1 on the side where we have our fridge. However both are nice, even if a bit less insulating.

We are in Seattle. I've seen the rubber rim on the inside damp, but there's no water inside. We got the gullwings for privacy and are glad we did. We don't sit much in the inside of back, have lights, and I haven't ever wished I had glass windows. Hope this helps!

 

Getting close, congrats!

1) I have FrontRunner doors. I don't think there's any way to open them from the inside. The latching mechanism is underneath the push-button on the outside of the door.

2) I'm definitely planning on building screens for my FrontRunners, and I am virtually certain we (Nightfall Overland) will offer them as a product once I have them dialed in.

3) I haven't seen any water ingress issues with my FrontRunners. The sealing system is very robust. I've heard some people have had a little leakage through the logo area, but that is an easy fix.

I really, really like having the FrontRunners. I highly recommend them. Not worried about waterproofness given my experience so far, I've got a solution in mind for bugs/screens, and I will also be building insulating covers for the FrontRunners as well. I don't think you can go wrong with these, personally, unless you simply don't want the side access for whatever reason... EXCEPT...

The only downside to FrontRunners I have experienced is that since the latching mechanism/push-button is so recessed and has such tight tolerances, they definitely tend toward freezing if water runs in there. Not a huge issue if it snows in my experience so far, unless the snow melts into the latch and then freezes. But if it rains and then immediately freezes... well, you're going to have stuck latches.

 

The regular windoors can be opened from the inside, come in a solid version if you want privacy, and also have no issues with water intrusion. I'm sure any bug screen solution that works for the front-runner could also be adapted for windoors as well. They are a bit smaller and definitely aren't as cool though.

Phil, Iggy, someone needs to please reach out to me. Order vo116. I've called, emailed, several times with no response. Need to know build date as November and December were the original dates, then January was the new date. Well that's come and gone. Posting here was my last resort , just need some answers.

 

I have also called and left a message with Phil recently. Would someone from VO offer the simple courtesy and return a phone call. I notice that when someone asks you on Instagram how long a build takes you don't respond. Iggy mentioned here somewhere that Phil has the build dates. That's not helpful if you don't respond to inquiries.

Phil has responded with email just a hour ago, thank you Iggy for reaching out. So for those asking, I ordered in March of 2019, my build should be completed by end of March 2020.
