Mine probably isn't as drastic as some describe but it is better.

 

couldn't find the bite point or modulate from it before the ADM. now i can.

 

It hasn't been posted here, but @Trident904 talked about some folks coming back to him with leaks. He said it was about making really good double flares and testing them and also about getting the right fittings. The common ones don't thread to the end (have a smooth bore) and the threads on the slave are a bit shallow.

That said, a lot of folks have used the common fittings with no trouble.

 

I really want to do this, but I am not sure my skills are up to the task.

 

Just make sure you select the correct fittings: inverted flare (Japanese style).

 

Just make sure you have a flare nut wrench

That's what I said. I got one to do the job with, not sure what the big deal is. It helped, but as long as you're not a dunce, I personally did not see where it was "required"

Just ask at your local auto parts store. Should have all kinds of sizes available.

 

Definitely required. We have one person stuck with the accumulator because they rounded off the upper fitting with a standard wrench.

Only the 10mm is need, but these worked like a champ:

 

It’s easy to round off the fitting without one. Even if you could *technically* do it without, I’d spend the $3 to not jack up the fittings. It’s enough of a PITA as is

This is one of those things where having the right tool is both cheap and recommended if for no other reason than Toyotas typically only need one wrench. Open end wrenches will wear down the fittings a little each time and since you can't just swap out a brass fitting like you can a nut, it's not a good idea to do it when you don't have to.

 

There it is, folks. Get a flarenut wrench.

You can always ask your favourite shop to do it.

 

Was considering this, but I wasn't sure if a shop would want to do "custom" work. I don't actually have a shop I trust. Gone though a bunch of shops I don't trust in my decade plus in my city, but yet to find a a great one.

 

It's hardly custom work. I can't imagine it would even take the layperson longer than 2 hours to do it if he or she was terrible with mechanical things.

 

Gonna say - 1-2 hours max for a shop. Where are you in the PNW? If Seattle/Redmondish, I can recommend a couple.

I have done many "easy" mods over the years. Always takes me twice as long or longer than everyone else did.
