Yeah I came across this thread when I was looking into getting mine fixed. The thread ended with no answer and after going to the dealership myself I found out it can be fixed under warranty at no cost. I figured I would make an account and give an answer to this thread. For those who will keep getting sent here by Google.

The cover is installed at the factory and not the port. It’s one of the few accessories installed at factory. Almost everything else is installed at port then the sticker is printed and shipped to the specific dealer.

That is weird, cause I ordered an 18 Sport with Tech/premium and didn't get the factory tonneau.

That’s because there are two package options. One has it and one does not. If it’s a factory option it should be covered. At least it should in the 12 month part of the warranty. I’m sure the 36 month is open to dealer interpretation with wear and tear.

The inner latch to fold it broke on mine after a week of owning it. Brought it in and they said it was covered under warranty since it's a toyota OEM part installed at the time of purchase (by the dealer).

They fixed it in 20mins and that was it. Been great since.

I liked the oem tonneau but actually wish I had gone with the backflip. It folds up one more time to expose the whole bed. If yours broke or “SNAPED” or whatever, take this as an opportunity to upgrade. The oems are about $700.
