2016 OVTune Tacoma 3.5L Manual Transmission / Engine ECU Reflash

Hey folks,

question, I have a few reports / emails now about some MT trucks getting a very odd, misfire-like or "miss" right around 1500 RPM. Specifically highway driving in 5th or 6th

But almost all reports are just on 2019s.
Does anyone experience or have experienced this on non 2019s?

3 reports from separate people, 1 tuned, 2 non, all 2019s.

 

I have an 18 and have never experienced that @OVTune

 

Never on my 2019. Tuned and before tune.

 

I have not (2017 04b13)

 

I haven't seen it on mine stock or tuned either 2017 04B13.

 

don't think so here either 04B13 '17

 

I don't see 1500RPM in 6th gear so can't comment on this.

 

What exactly would it feel like? Almost like coming off the gas hard then immediately back on? Kind of like a random lurch out of nowhere?

 

Explainations from others are :
lurching on / off the throttle
fish bite feeling like the truck is being tugged at

 

i certainly get this "fish bite" in 5th & 6th at low rpm and good throttle, but always felt this was a bit of clutch slip. that's what it feels like and still does.

 

I get slights hesitations 3rd and higher under heavy throttle ,,,18 mt

 

This,with the terrain around here sixth gear is almost useless.

 

$600 fee + $450 green fee for not financing. Ends up outpricing a brand new one....


I found a brand new one for $39k. waiting to hear back. I will get one damnit!!

 

I think I do experience something similar maybe when the engine is cold moreso. Seems like when you make a turn at low speed and kinda slip the clutch a bit to go in 2nd and give it a hair too much gas and it starts hopping almost trying to pick up.

Mine surges and shutters sometimes going from 1st to 2nd. I just let off the throttle and reapply the throttle and it stops.

 

Mine did this without the tune, it does it with the tune.

Yes its in the lower rpm, yes it is under load only.

I bought the tune hoping to smooth it out. while the tune helped greatly in some areas. It did not do anything for that sensation. It also as of this last week, seemed to revert back to some old behavior, which i have seen multiple people complain about. (the dead throttle feel when taking off in first, dead throttle right after a shift)

Im holding out for 2.0 myself and hoping the single map fixes it.

I have a 2019 currently on FOB 1.05 and get this all the time.
