Scale winch looks like a 1/10 version of something on your 1:1 truck
    z-s1079.jpg

A servo winch is usually stronger and faster but does not look like anything you would have on a 1:1. It uses a modified steering servo with a spool. Theres internal spool
    SKU186911-2.jpg
    And external spool
    917048924.jpg

If wanting one for comps, id suggest a servo winch. If just wanting for occasional use and scale looks, scale RC4WD style is fine.

I run a dual winch plate made for the TRX. Servo winch in front, steering servo is in the middle. Then i also have a Gear Keeper retractable lanyard thing zip tied to the motor. I was using the retractor more than the servo winch today and really like it.

    I have an OG SCX10.

I had a gentleman at the competition this weekend try to tell me that those are axles from a Redcat….

I've been looking and trying to figure out how to add weight to these axles, but I'm not seeing much out there. Mostly because I can't weed through all the 10.2 stuff.... Any of you guys have input on adding brass to these axles? I've got my eye on the disk brakes looking things for inside the wheels, but any other suggestions are welcomed.

are you wanting to make a more capable trail rig or eventually compete?

to be 100% honest, id start with a whole different chassis for a top notch comp build, the OG needs a lot of work to get to top level. Mine started out as an OG scx and ive replaced everything except the receiver box.

you can however build the og scx to be a pretty nice trail rig that can be competitive in other leagues besides diehard. Im not in a spot to look some parts up but will when I get a chance.

theres a comp on the 8th at wild bills hobbytown that im gonna try and make it to, it wont be near as difficult as what you saw this weekend

Dont play around with the stock axles. Upgrade to scx10.2 or go this route...

Gotcha. I'm not necessarily looking to go balls out on anything right now. So, probably more capable trail rig. I've even considered swapping these axles for a set of take-off 10.2's if I found a cheap enough set. I think that would open up my options a lot more.

the 10.2 axles are great, you WILL lose some speed moving to them so might need a 3s battery or diff motor to get some speed back.

also the geometry will be out of whack so will need to get links with adjustable rod ends to shorten or lengthen as needed.

10.2 axles are a huge improvement over the OG axles

Damn! you mean i have to wait 2 days?? lol

That is a pretty long print though. Lots of issues can happen in that amount of time.
