    Best option I've seen is the frame under the bed opposite the fuel tank. Combats the Taco lean and doesn't take up valuable real estate.

    Burn a box onto the frame keeping the bottom even and then run some heavy gauge wire to some posts in the stock location. Then you can put your winch control or SwitchPro in the empty spot.

    What about water, mud and stuff like that? water crossing would be scary, no?

    You are definitely onto something here, just got to find the spot that provides protection from water. Engine bay has advantage of being relatively high up

    True, but its got to be 1-2 feet higher than the level of the frame and more protected from water under the truck. Im not sure if ive been frame deep, but sometimes, i accidently go through crossing faster than one would normally go...
