Got these mini gun cases today to closely match the ones on my truck. Not too bad. :notsure:

Thanks, perfect length but a little taller than real ones but they'll do.

Waiting for new Tacoma IFS suspension and chassis so I can put body mounts on before I paint. Should have it by end of month I hope. Also fitting all the little parts, (lights, windows, door handles etc) so I have less chance of messing up a new paint job when i reinstall them.

Please use magnets and not drilled holes for the body mounts, please please please... The body is too nice to drill.

No worries. That's my plan but since I will need to do a lot of test fitting and adjusting to get the magnets aligned correctly, I don't want to paint until that done. :hattip:

Good, when I first started doing RC about 25 years ago, people would paint these amazing bodies only to drill holes in them for body posts.... but back then, there was no other option to mount the body other than posts.

Well this us my 1st RC and build so learning as I go. Found out about the magnets early into the build. This will mostly be a working model. May build another overland body without such detail to actually use and play with.

I'm actually getting anxious to paint but I'm really bad at Gloss finish painting. Ive already tested the automotive MGM paint I got and it's a perfect match. Can't wait to have it all done posing with the real one.

Im sure you knock it out the park. Just take your time and paint some test panels for practice beforehand.

Yeah I can’t wait to see the posing pics, it’s going to be so badass.

I’ve shot a few R/C bodies over the last 35 years...

I did that early on to paint a lot of these little pieces.

You will be golden, external, single colour. Do you plan to clearcoat? That was the tricky thing about shooting clear lexan R/C bodies. You painted them from the inside, so crashes didn't ruin your paint job. That means you had to put down all your dark colours first and work towards your lighter ones, especially with opaque fluorescent colours that had to be backed with white to make them "pop".

I always hated that when planing out paint jobs. You get like halfway through and realize you put a neon on too early.

Yeah, I did most of the paint jobs at the hobby shop I worked at when I was 15 (21 years ago). Most turned out good, sometimes the person wanted like 12 colors and it was a pain in the ass.
Though I have not painted a RC body in like 18 years, so I dont think I would be able to do a good one anymore :)
