    It is. I hear diesel engines produce more carbon and soot and that T6 is good at enduring the stresses of diesel use as well as cleaning what it can due to higher detergent content. I believe they changed the formula a year or two ago somewhat.

    People still have used it in German car engines, motorcycles, etc.

    I'm just not sure if the Tacoma can handle a switch from recommended 5w30 weights to 5w40.
    Would not mind the cleaning power though, to clean the inside of the engine slowly from any effects the previous owner may have had; they neglected the vehicle.

    Yes but some of those vehicles already ask for a 5w40 in the first place (Audi, Mercedes, etc.) vs the Tacoma's 5w30

    A 5w40 or 0w40 is fine for the 4.0. I ran a 5K mile run of Castrol Edge 0w40 in my truck since I had a good bit extra from my German cars. No extra noises, fuel consumption, or lack of power. I ran T6 5w40 in my old S10 that called for 5w30 with no ill effects. Some people are a little bit too fanatical.

    I use olive oil. Lowest in saturated fat and does not need a filer

    Be careful. There is a huge amount of fraud in the Olive oil industry. What is sold as extra virgin might be a blend.

    I buy the cheapest synthetic I can find, brand doesnt matter. My latest buy was rotella synthetic truck oil 5w30 with an after rebate price of $7 per 5 qt jug. Picked up the max of 4 of them.

    Oh and a long life filter because I run 12,500 miles between changes based on oil analysis. 185k trouble free miles on my Tacoma

    Amsoil and oem filter for me.
    Anecdotal yes but I ran several different oils in my commercial mowing business and Amsoil was the only one that didn’t show metal particles at oil changes. Kinda sold me on it after that.

    Brand? It doesn't matter. If it meets the standard, it's good to go. I've yet to see any motor oil that was the correct type be implicated in any premature damage to any engine. Change it when it should be changed with a filter better than Fram and you'll be good for a long, long time.

    It’s a solid deal and appears to be the same blend as Supertech which is great stuff. Also the 10 quarts is perfect because my Tacoma takes 6.1 qts and my other car takes 3.9 qts :D
