Hi guys. I noticed some grease, not a ton, slung around my CV boot, passenger side. I cleaned it up looking for damage on the boot but didn't see anything wrong with it. Is there something else I should be looking for? Side note, the dealer recently did an alignment and I watched him torch the front end for quite a while to get parts loose. I'm not sure that's related, but worth mentioning. What else should I be looking for?

Be happy you don't live where they use salt brine on the roads. After watching the undercarriage of my '01 4Runner rust away, even though I washed it every other day in the winter, I discovered Fluid Film, and now use Woolwax. It's great stuff, but it's still a constant battle against the rust. I was told that often times they can't even perform the alignment without replacing the control arms. $$$

It may be pin hole or in the seam...look for weather cracks in the boot

I would just wipe it down and keep an eye on it for the next few months. Your bio says your truck's an 06, have you had any troubles with your CV's in the past? Are you experiencing any additional noise or chattering from your passenger side? If you don't suspect anything, I wouldn't bother with it. Either way, you'd have to remove it from your truck to do any work on it whether you rebuild it or put a new one in.

Thanks JustAddMud. I have never had any issues in the past and don't currently have any. I was under my truck to adjust my NSS when I noticed the grease. I went over it really well and didn't notice any pin holes, or cracks on the seams. Took a spin around the block and looked again, and didn't see any leaks. Good to know that I can just keep driving and then replace when needed. I just looked up the price on Rock Auto, and was surprised how affordable the part is, and looks like a job I can easily do myself :). I will keep driving, I hate working on the truck in the winter!
