Replaced the passenger side inner and outer tie rods today. Inner ball was so worn it could move in and out of the socket about 1/8 to 1/4 inch. Lasted 160,000 miles, so hopefully this new MOOG one will last at least half that long.

Today Toy got some much needed attention...

    changed the oil and filter...at 4,500 miles...:anonymous:
changed out the oil in the front and rear diff...went to synthetic. *fingers crossed that this is the solution to my mystery thud in the rear end*
    checked the brakes
washed it. hoping to get up enough energy to wax it yet tonight but for now......I'm done!

and Mr Clean magic Erasers are awesome!!! I read somewhere on here that they work great on cleaning up all the black parts on the trucks...I was skeptical but everything is super clean now!

Took it on a trail and hit a tree. No damage except a few scratches on the front right side bumper. I think they will buff out.

Installed wheelers 3-leaf progressive AAL in the back with a set of 5100's to go with it. Tomorrow getting the front installed ( I don't have a spring compressor) and getting things aligned, oil change, tire rotation, and a bath.:D

There is a good chance the answer to that is a no. http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-tacomas/108316-goodbye-axle-wrap-mod.html

Started installing my full length helper springs. Turns out to be more complicated then I thought it would be, since I'm disassembling the leaf pack.

After a failed attempt to change out my third member yesterday  (someone forgot that the pinion flange needed to be changed :anonymous:), I got everything put back together today.

Since I had the drums off I put on a couple coats of primer and then painted them black with high heat paint. Cleaned and adjusted the rear brakes while I was at it. At least the weekend wasn't a total waste. I guess I learned how to take apart the rear end and put it back together.

Hmmm...just replaced the stock suspension including the leaf packs. The battle with axle wrap is a thing of the past! :taco:

This thud is more of a dull metallic sound and not the thud + feeling of being rear ended that is common with axle wrap.
