Inner Fender Liner?

I've had trouble with my fog light going out on the driver side. After replacing the bulb, I noticed the wiring had a cut in it and replaced it. A few months later I'm experiencing more issues.

It appears the reason I'm having trouble is that I'm missing the inner fender liner on the driver side and the wiring is probably getting hit by rocks and debris when I drive. I bought my Tacoma used and the previous owner must have removed the part and not put it back.

Has anyone else had to replace this part? I could use suggestions on replacements - Toyota wants $135 for the part and hardware. Seems like a lot of $$ for a plastic part and plastic hardware.

get something in there or not just the fogs will fail, the sheet metal will rust out too in no time. Try places like realtruck, 4wheelparts, carid to save a little but that molded stuff isn't cheap. Try wrecking yards too.

I'm sure the OP is gone by now but there is a guy that is only spitting distance away from him that custom makes all 4 of better material, with perfect fit and comes with new clips for very reasonable.

I went with Fend-X wheel liners, but have yet to install them. It isn't my daily, but I did have to drive it in the salt a couple times before getting them in, which is why I got them. They look awesome and way better material. I just need to figure out a way to mount them in and get off my lazy ass.

I'm unfamiliar with extremely ridiculous regulation, what is prop 65?

 

I'm pretty sure its the cancer thing. So, try the neoprene or ABS plastic sheets and make your own @Kadenm

Those are the same company i was talking about, but those are the splashguards that go against the frame. He needs Fend-X wheel liners. They are a bit more pricey, the quality of the material and ability to get them wider for my cut fenders is what swayed me to their product. Looking for better than OEM i would recommend. If you're a crafty DIY guy, ABS plastic should suffice.

 

Oh holy hell..... I don't know why anyone is left in that state.....
I left Illinois about a year ago and it isn't as bad as California, in my opinion.

 

It's just a mandate to post a warning on the package if it contains chemicals known to cause cancer as most plastics seem to do. It's a pretty lame excuse not to ship here. Everything causes cancer so now its on almost every package and mostly ignored.

 

Exactly why I'll never live there. Legislation that does nothing but screw the residents. It seems as if they could've sent a laminated poster to each household and had a more profound effect.

Went to a local industrial rubber supply, and found a section of heavy duty rubber(used for convert belts). Playable enough to bend the arch of the wheel well, but still rigid enough to hold its shape. Also, because it’s a thick/dense rubber it reduces more road noise than typical thin abs plastic

 

I'm looking at the rubber sheeting on McMaster right now. What thickness did you go with? I'm thinking 1/8", but worry it might be a little too thick / less pliable.

Having done it, anything else you recommend?
