offroad trailers?

Hey guys, can anyone post pictures of offroad type trailers? I'm looking at getting something to go camping/exploring with. I'm looking at Tenttrax and teardrop type trailers. Thanks, by the way I have an '05 4x4sport 5sp auto do you think getting the brake options is necessary for a small trailer like these? Thanks again.

 

Post WWll 1/4 ton Bantam trailer, over 11" of ground clearance at bottom of springs. I changed the stock ball type hitch to a multi-axis hitch, this trailer will easily go wherever my Tacoma can drag it:

 

My little 8ft (closed) Fleetwood Cobalt tent trailer is awesome. It has a high ground clearance and good sturdy leaf springs. Great for dirt trails, backwoods adventures, stream crossings, etc.. And, it is pretty plush with three beds (one converts to a dining area for 4). Has a heater, sink, two burner stove. That's about it for amenities. I've got racks on mine so I can carry my firewood and other gear up there too, or mtn. bikes, kayaks, whatever.. anyway it's the best built tent trailer I've ever seen.

 

To answer the question about the brake option, No I don't think in most circumstances it is necessary (assuming you are referring to electric trailer brakes and a brake controller). Most trailers are too light to really benefit from them and seldom even come with electric brakes. But loaded up and going down a steep grade they do help and can stop the trailer from pulling and jerking too.

BTW- my Cobalt has electric brakes, even though the trailer is only 1100lbs. I probably add another 500lbs to that in gear, food, water, gas, guns, etc.. but still could get by without the electric brakes no problem.

Thanks for the replies guys. ATAVUSS you and my brother are like as he just picked one up and is planning to build it up, maybe I should look for one as well. MOUNTAINWOLFPUP yours is whats kept me from doing that, yours is sweet! GOBIAS saw one at the OE EXPO at the fairplex in Pomona CA this weekend bad azz but I think they are big bucks. All good Ideas just need to waite and see were the pieces fall due to outsourcing at my job. Doesn't hurt to start trying to see what all the options are. Thanks again.

 

New they were running $7900 up here in Oregon back in 2007... so I bought this 2005 used from a couple in Northern CA for $4000.

I would say in general you can get really good condition ones for 4-5k. The difficulty is finding them. Hunters love these things and grab them up fast.
