    Hey guys,

    I have seen plenty of scoops you can add onto a stock OffRoad hood, and was wondering if anyone has done it. The sport scoop is not functional anyway, but I wanted to know if looks decent, looks stupid.

    I can't seem to get my hands on a sport hood but didn't really want to just slap on a scoop.

    will look stupid on an off-road. kinda defeats the purpose of off-roading cuz you'll get dirt into the scoop and into you're engine... NO NO

    I imagine he's talking about those stick on scoops? So stuff wouldn't go into the engine anyway.

    OP if you really like those scoops I would keep searching for a stock sport hood no matter how long it takes. IMO those stick on deals scream ricer, but I suppose it depends on what it looks like. I think the Hilux's OEM scooped hood is two separate pieces and it just looks cheesy.

    Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
    there are no working scoops on the sports or x-runners and definitely not aftermarket scoops for these, so no worries about it getting into the engine.

    The aftermarket scoop "add ons" are just stick on... and yes I agree, they look cheap

    The Sport hood has the scoop on it, but it isn't useful. I am pretty sure that it is purely for the look anyway.

    stick ons will be crap. the only way to get a descent one is to buy a sport/X hood or the even harder and possibly more costly route is to get a metal one that you like and have it properly molded to the hood. a 1st genner cut the scoop out of a like model 4runner and fitted it to his hood...looks bad ass IF done properly.

    does certfit sell the hood with the hole, then you buy the scoop from dealership?

    yup...you can buy the scoop parts from the dealer in the specific color, IIRC, and the hood comes w/ the hole and in a white primer...all you should need to paint is the hood...someone can correct me if i'm wrong on the colored scoops from the dealer part though

    That carbon fiber hood was running $900...so yea between the two, OEM appears the cheaper route. Certifit's a good suggestion...I forgot about that option.

    I love the look of my hood scoop. That's why I bought a Sport model vs the Off Road model. Like the factory wheels on the Sport much better too!!!!
