lol...you have to get there first. Deer Valley trail got some tight spots and decent boulders that keep lots of people away.

There are few lakes. You can camp at Lower Blue Lake or Lake Alpine, but if you camp on the trail there aren't too many options.

Edit: There is a nice spot on slick rock trail itself by the water. Usually, you need to get there during week days to get that spot.

Now all we need to set up is a date.

I’ll probably camp out at Utica or Union reservoir Friday night, but we start on the Utica side, make our way towards alpine, air up, 4 East to deer. Start deer find a good spot to camp out for Saturday, out deer valley up to upper blue lake, hopefully over the summit and down towards 88.

I usually camp near the first creek crossing on deer valley. Water flows almost year around. Never tried to fish it though.

    Let me know the dates.

You seem to know the area pretty well. What connects between 4 and 108? If I join you guys for slick rock I might hit Niagra Rim on my way home. It'd be sweet to stay almost all dirt on the was over to Niagra.

Not much. I could give you a dirt road near Murphy’s.

used to be able to cut across near Spicer reservoir but as far as I know it’s been closed for a long time.

Yeah, I've been looking over Google Maps and some topo's. It looks like trails from both sides get fairly close to each other but don't connect. Of course, there's lots of stuff that looks like that in my area as well. Usually something actually connects though. I'll poke around up there in the spring.

Let me know. I haven’t found anything but I stopped looking a long time ago. The struggle is getting across the Stanislaus.
