Saturday 2/22? Nothing on the calendar, I'm sure I could convince the wife that we need to make a trip down to Magic. She likes it there too.

Speaking of skiing, I just mounted my new tele setup last week. Black crows ova freebirds with 22 designs vice bindings. maiden run was this past Saturday. Took my daughter to Ski Ward. So much lighter than my old tele skis, which were a 25 year old pair of skis from when I was in high school. Heading up to Sunday River for a week during February vacation and I think I'm going to ride these all week. 20200129_203249.jpg

Nice setup! I'm running the Outlaw-X on 4-5 different sets of skis with inserts so I can swap 'em around.

Sweet. How do you like NTN? I've not tried it yet as I'm old and set in my cable binding ways

I started on 75mm gear with some old Rottefella Cobras before switching to the Vice, and my XC setup is still 3-pin. NTN I find has a really solid level of control compared to those. I've never skied with locked down heels, so I can't compare to that, but I can make some pretty strong parallel turns when necessary.

My friend drove his truck up a mountain once while a bunch of us got a house on one of the mountains in Maine for a long weekend of skiing. He wanted to get cigarettes late at night and called us saying some lady is yelling at him. He told her to screw off kept driving and then he realized he was driving up one of the trails lol. Next morning we see his tire tracks go about a quarter of the way up the trail.

So I had a 20 game package. This was every home weekend game, opening day and marathon monday. The total cost last year was $2020 for 2 seats. 1010 per seat and $50.50 per game average. For the 2020 season the price jumped to $2414 or $60.35 per game. If diamond games are $70 if you pay by December 18. If you don't then it jumps by $4 a ticket and you have to pay by Jan 18 and tier 1 are $57 that means you pay almost diamond game prices for a september 27 baltimore game when you average it out...and that ticket will be $20 on stubhub. The red sox do tiered pricing now (for several years now) so they have Diamond games all the way to tier 5...So last year a diamond game in my section was $60 this year it's $70 per seat. This is games like Yankees, interleague, opening day, marathon monday...but then they pull bullshit like making a saturday july 11 vs Baltimore a DIAMOND game...I bet when that game rolls around you can get stubhub seats for $30. BTW The sox billed this as only a 1.7% increase in ticket prices but that's because they raise the prices more for the better seats and then raise it less for the 10,000 seats at the back of the bleachers...and then all of those seats lower the average price but the are still raising groups of tickets at a far higher % than the overall...

I had rottafella cobras on my old pair. They were decent. The vices are much easier all around though. I can make some pretty aggressive tele turns, or parallel if needed just fine. I my see if I can try out some NTN stuff up at Sunday River. I'll likely stick with my 75mm stuff though, I really like my Garmont boots and they were damn expensive.

Swapping is definitely another investment. All of my original equipment was used. I had a pair of 75mm BD Custom boots that fit 'okay', and had bought new skis and Vices from Telemarkdown. The nudge I needed was finding literally the last pair of Scarpa TX Pros at Ragged Mountain Outfitter in NH, in my size, on sale at the end of the season. I couldn't pass on the deal. Knowing that the Outlaw uses the same drill pattern as the Vice, I bought a set of inserts, new bindings, and was off.

Damn that's a sweet deal. I really like the vices for resort skiing, which is what they're for (this is only after one day on them though...) I still have old setup if I wanted to skin up since the cobras have climbing bails.

Just skiing on a modern ski is a much improved experience too. And the Ova freebirds are superlight which makes up for the weight of the vices. Technically they're not intended for tele since they're so thin, but they have a metal top sheet and based on some research lots of others use them for tele setups.
