For you CG guys... sometimes when you leave the FOB (that real scary place the AF lands for a couple hours once a week) you have to interact with the local populace. In Iraq, IPs are Iraqi Police. They run around all scared like and shoot without looking. Kinda like a Navy guy shooting anything smaller then a quad .50.

Sorry, should’ve added that FOB means Forward Operating Base. Those are inland. Bahrain? What’s this Bahrain? Isn’t that near the place (Qatar) where AF go to sit along side the pool and decompress from flying 10,000’ feet over small arms fire?

Edit; In all seriousness, I’m sure you guys are all over the place, just like any other branch. There’s locations the army is at that I’d still be surprised to hear about. I like to give the other branches shit (like we all do), but I’ve said it before. I’ll play with IEDs and get in firefights all day... a boat in a hurricane or rough sea’s fuck that. It’s a different mission for each of us, would I have embraced another branches mission had I gone that route. Probably, I’d hope so. Having gone the way I did, couldn’t see it any other way. The orher’s seem scary in their own right, boring, or just too different.

Yeah but at 10k is when you start rocking the plane with your “evasive maneuvers,” I think it’s just to haze the new airmen though.

Also- heard that about Qatar. We would get a “3 day pass” once a month for the company to send someone. We always had to force them. No one wanted to go. Spend two weeks traveling for three days sitting in a nicer version of Kuwait. My guys just asked to have a mission off once a month. lol

I’m sure. Every unit had at least one that was afraid to fly. I don’t get don’t have an issue with turbulence though. Put me in a fast mover and I’d probably pass out before it left the runway though.

Fun fact: Coast Guard isn’t covered in the SOFA with Qatar so if you go there in R&R they’ll deport you.
