Maybe just a "coincidence" that since Toyota moved Tacoma production to Baja and Texas quality and reliability issues have become more prevalent.

From what I understand most of the Double cabs are made in Baja and the Access cab is only made in Texas.

Could be quality control with outsourcing so many parts from all over the world.Chinese steel and copper is some of the worst .

Any updates on this ? Just went to purchase a 2017 TRD sport 51k miles. Noticed a fluid leak off the skid plate. Previous owner also had a marker line on the power steering reservoir as if to monitor fluid loss... Might go back to looking at 2nd gens

Timing chain cover. Most likely. Oil leaks right where you are mentioning.

Can’t really agree with that - My Taco was built in Texas and is a mess. And i’ve had some mexican built Fords with minimal issues

Realistically, aren’t the best tacos made in Mexico?

Is that on the passenger side? If so, I may be having that same leak. But it only does that every other 3rd day

yeah, having the same issue with my 2016, the leak is very small, I noticed it while changing my oil filter. In fact it's so small doesn't even really drip. But I do see that it is the front top passenger side. I have 47 miles is this a warranty covered problem.

I recently went in to the dealership to get my oil changed on my 3rd gen and they informed me how my power steering is leaking. They said it would be over $1,700.00 to fix! My truck is no longer under warranty. Any recommendations?

Ha! Same thing with mine today. We’re going to service it ourselves; it’s a 2WD so shouldn't be too bad.

Hopefully its not a steering rack issue like they had on the gen1 tundras. Had to replace mine after a few years...the salt caused the rack to corrode eating holes though it.

Anyone know if this or the timing cover leak are covered under the powertrain warranty? Got under my truck to change the diff fluids and noticed a leak on the passenger side. Looks like engine oil but the power steering pump is dripping. Doesn't smell like ATF.

Well it looks like I've been hti with the same issue. Took my truck for its 50k service and they said i needed a new steering rack because there was fluid leaking. I brought it home and looked and turns out my pump is covered in oil and dirt. My resevoir didnt seem to be low so I'm guessing it could be engine oil. Been having a good amount of problems wih this truck lately, definitely not what I expected from Toyota.

Any updates on this? Have the same leak that’s consolidating on the power steering pump. It’s getting worst and today I noticed it dripped for the first time. Curious to see what others have found and if it’s covered under warranty.

I’ve noticed on my truck there’s a leak coving from right above the skid plate. It looks like the hose coming from the Power Steering reservoir above. What would cause the pipes to be stretched and braking?
