Yep, the “sealed transmission, doesn’t need to be touched” spiel I’ve seen others here post about.

a relative has an '11 that has a minor transmission pan gasket leak Baxter in La Vista told her at only 40k miles. They want over $400 to fix it
her multi-point checkup sheet said to change the AT fluid at 75k miles so IDK lol

It’s a fairly easy DIY project. I’ve done it on a few trucks now and it’s always made a noticeable difference after changing.

There’s a drain plug, fill plug and check plug. You just open the drain plug, fill it, then you bring the trans up to check temp and open the check plug til it’s a trickle the put it back in. It’s like a 30 minute job taking your time.

I learned something new about ... the good life

Hastings is a city and county seat of Adams County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 24,907 at the 2010 census.
It is known as the town where Kool-Aid was invented by Edwin Perkins in 1927, and celebrates that event with the Kool-Aid Days festival every August.

... took the old taco across the whole state Monday to the Colorado border
hopped off of I-80 at the Nebraska crossing exit and took US-6 all the way to Hastings where it combined with US-34 and another 200 miles to the border
first time I have stayed off of I-80 to get to CO/WY and found it to be a very quiet relaxing highway, not much traffic and the pavement was relatively decent other than I think through Hastings. Another 'plus' was also not having to deal with the heavy tractor-trailer traffic either. Not much for snow cover other than in the ditches where the sun doesn't shine much and not many cows or trains as I was wanting to see

some pics at the NE/CO border on US-34, it was cloudy pretty much the entire trip

I still need to cross the state on highway 2 and US-20 and 30 but 30 is basically I-80

Yup, I really wanted to install my new bumper yesterday but I'm still waiting on a few parts to arrive. Now I'm going to be stuck working in the cold.

the only thing i could do is wd40 wipe the salt & grime off the newly coated frame section and check for any rust in those spots if I missed any from the fall, the pavement was still cold squirming around underneath

    Omaha politics

there must be a better way to fix the roads than to just TAX real estate owners :notsure:
other people use the roads here that are not subject to real estate TAX

i had once thought that the restaurant TAX was to go soley to road maintenance, apparently i was grossly misled because they have a stinking lot of coin in that pot over these years since they started that TAX scheme

and I really do not trust the Mayor to handle the money from anything after letting it get to current conditions, its probably overwhelmed her
she wasted a TON of money on 90th street last year just patching big sections

Leavenworth by the MED center is always a bad one using asphalt over the bricks underneath, i drove down that street yesterday and it looks like an earthquake happened with a rupture in the pavement, just a straight line all the way down the road lol, and i believe it was just resurfaced not too many years ago

I might have to try that route next time to Colorado. Although I typically don’t mind i80, plus I am almost always towing the Jeep so it’s nice to have gas stations every few miles.

i imagine there can be the most wicked winter storms on that route at times with wind

as far as gas stations they seemed sorta few and far between but you can just pull right off the road and back on, i made it from Omaha to McCook on about 15 gallons

still working on any mileage distance savings going that way, if it even matters...
pretty much all 2 lane so there is a danger factor of someone crossing over in front of you and vice versa

definitely not as bad as last year when it was snowing every weekend for over a month and then it got real

Baxter in Lincoln serviced my transmission but did a flush, not a drain and fill like I asked. Service Manager assured it would be fine since their machine circulates fluid at an ambient rate. Still a little annoyed though because when I scheduled I pointed out I did not want the flush.

    FWIW :)

were there any noticeable leaks in the pan gasket?
not sure why my relatives '11 single cab has a leak at only 40k miles
i thought it was the power steering since in the engine bay it was covered in reddish oil near the check stick

and i totally sprayed it down all underneath with anti corrosion gel so it maybe hard to find if its still leaking!

No leaks that I’m aware of. Hopefully your cousin’s leak is taken care of.
