Yep I've noticed the same thing in my 2019 Sport. I compensate by going a few MPH faster than I normally would at highway speeds and it usually feels right. For the Sport I think you can put on 265/70R17 tires (the biggest you can fit without modding) and it will then be right on the money.

First world problems??? My god the things we complain about. Who cares?? You won’t get pulled over if you are safe and following the rules of the road. Don’t be a dip shit and you will be fine. One of the most strict motors I know drives 80 here in California.

    edit: motors = motorcycle cop

I'm going to have to break out my GPS and see what my 19 TRD is actually running at highway speed with 265/75/16's verses indicated speed. 75 MPH on the interstate here, thought I was reading low.

I added a cable and box I bought off Amazon behind instrument cluster to convert speeds displayed due to using bigger tires. Once I programmed it and installed, speed is now true to my GPS phone application. My neighbor has a Tacoma with stock wheels and tires, and we think his speedo runs 3 mph slow at 60.

In the old days a speedometer took it's reading off a spinning gear at the back of the transmission. If it's still the same, I'm surprised it's as accurate as it is!

I would also caution everyone to be skeptical about the accuracy of GPS... it too has a certain degree of inaccuracy, simply because of the constant changes in the earth's gravitational pull. When we use it during search and rescue, I can mark a waypoint to identify an item. If I transfer that waypoint to another GPS, depending upon if that GPS is using the USCG coordinate system or not, I can get the identified item in your field of view but I can't get you standing on top of it

I’ve owned 14 new cars and 7 used cars and every one read slower than actual except a Chevy S-10 that read 5mph slow which I didn’t realize until I got a speeding ticket. Don’t get me started on my Chevy experiences.

lol, pal? I just think it’s funny how people are concerned by 5 mph. Honestly?? Tell me, when is the last time you drove the speed limit? Second question, when it comes to maintenance, does the truck suddenly explode when you go a couple hundred miles above or below your oil change?

I have yet to own a car with a speedo that is correct. No nerve, but come on.

edit: I pulled the f-word out so you don’t have to be triggered :)

I always drive 5 over, it's nice to know that I'm not actually going 5 over.

You want a real mind f---, wait till you see your digital readout doesn't match your analog speedometer!

Here in california I’m usually at 10-15 over because it’s the flow of the traffic.

    and haha!!

Kansas drivers stick pretty close to the speed limit, but cops here are pretty strict and adhere to the "9 you're fine, 10 you're mine" rule. Oklahoma, Nebraska, and South Dakota are predominantly the same. Texas is its own animal.

In Atlanta, if you're not going 20 over you're going to die.

It doesn't concern me. I usually go by my GPS on my dash anyway. The police aren't that picky when you're speeding. If you get pulled over for doing 73 in a 70, the policeman/women is an A-hole.

Locally there are no fines specified for less than 5 over

It’s designed so that when you get pulled over and asked if you knew how fast you were going, you can honestly say that you have no idea.

I’ve noticed something similar with the speedo in my 2nd Gen vs my GPS, except it would seem that the speedo is reading slower than the GPS! I think only police vehicles get the so-called “calibrated speedometers”...

They do, but they aren’t accurate either! Haha! There is a little note that says how accurate it is, or at what speed it is accurate until.
