After years of her sitting by my side, putting up with my crazy builds, she finally decided it was time for her to join the crowd.

    A 2019 4Runner SR5 Premium 4x4

It has all the things she wanted:

    • Heated seats
    • Leather
    • Sunroof
    • Navigation
    • Satellite radio
    • 3rd row
And none of the extras that I knew I would only end up replacing down the road...

One day after the purchase, we are packed up and headed to Mexico!

    upload_2019-12-18_19-18-43.jpg

Not long after we returned, I started gathering parts for Mods.

In the picture below I have installed:

    • BDS uppers
    • Bilestin 5100's x 4
    • OME coils x 4
    • Sema wheels
    • 285/75/17 KO2's

    upload_2019-12-18_19-19-11.jpg

Thankfully the lift was installed before hurricane Imelda dropped feet upon feet of rain. She stayed high and dry, unfortunately I can't same the same for my daughters car :(

    upload_2019-12-18_19-21-56.jpg

After a few weeks of having to "jump" into the Runner, she decided it was time to have some steps put on. So after some research and a little good fortune, I found a set, in stock at Shrockworks in Houston with the specs we were looking for.

    upload_2019-12-18_19-22-56.jpg

One week later we are headed off to the trails in Hot Springs AR for the debut run :mudding:

Well, she must have been paying attention all of these years as she took the right lines, handled the of camber stuff like a champ and made it out without any damage!

    More mods to come...:hattip:

Glad to see this thread going.

What's the max tire size anyone is running without any major cutting? I moved my SCS Stealth 6 wheels (17x8.5 4.30" BS 6x139.7) with 265/70/17 Grabbers over from my Taco to my new 4Runner and had minor wheel well rub. It's easy enough to trim at this point, but I'm curious what others are doing. I'd love to eventually run 285/75/17 but would prefer not to get into a body mount chop or trimming a body panel.

A little mud slinging from a county road after a snow thaw.

Damn that looks good with stock tire size. I'm convincing my girlfriend to get 265 70r 17 goodyear wranglers. Shell be running the trd pro wheels and spidertrax spacers though

I'm running the same 4Runner wheel as in the photo and 265/70/18 on my limited and they rub slightly from time to time. I imagine the 285/75/17 is really going to need some trimming to make it fit. I am getting conflicting information about fitment. Some say the 285/75/17 will fit with a 2 inch lift and UCA's and minor cutting/ forming of the fender liners. Others are saying not a problem. Guess this topic needs some good research.

Ahhh that is what I was searching for. Looks like the 285/75/17 will be a bit of work to run.

not suggest to run the OEM or TRD with a 285/75. Width of the wheel is too small.

I run the 285/70/17 on a TRD wheel, max I’d run.

@Overkill07 I recently made the switch to a 4runner from my Taco. What did you think of the Bilstein on the 4Runner? I had some on my Taco and at times it felt to ride really harsh in the rear.

    Same crap everyone else got

What coils did you use for the front and rear? How much lift did it gain you? any rubbing with the 285's?
I just picked up an sr5 premium for my wife also. After her lifted xterra on 285's she said she can't drive stock high suv's anymore b/c they don't look as cool so now I gotta lift it. Was going to go with 5100 route like you but not sure what springs will work as I've seen everything from 883-885's to run 285's. Your wife's 4runner looks great and looks like the combo I'm after for my wife's 4runner.

Got rid of the Tacoma two months ago and have been super happy with the 4runner! The mod bug has been strong so far.

Here's my wife's '19 TRD OR. So far I've installed Bilstein 5100's all the way around with 1.5" spacers in the rear, a Rhino rack, a Body Armor HiLine front bumper, winch and light bar. Also have NFab RS steps, but I remove them when we go wheeling. 285/70/17 KO3's on KMC Spy II wheels. I just picked up a '20 Tacoma TRD, so we may take a little break from dumping money into the 4runner to throw some at the truck a little lol

@T00CH where did you get the four amber lights beside the Toyota logo? Also, have you had any tire rub with that wheel/tire setup? I too have the Bilstein lift and my SCS F5s rub with my 265/70R/17.

I believe I got the raptor lights on Amazon for my wife for Xmas. We did have some minimal rub with the 285/70/17's, but only under full lock in reverse. When I had it aligned, I had then max the castor. Also I removed the front mud flaps and pushed the inner fenders forward some. I also did a very small trim on the front bumper, maybe 2-3". So little you can't even tell. I was all set to do a high clearance cut, but my wife shut that down pretty quick lol

Anybody make the switch from 295’s to 285/75? Or 285/75 to 295’s? I have 295’s now and debating switching to 285/75.

    Hey,
I'm new to this group and was wondering if anyone is running OME 3" lift on their 4runner. My question is did anyone put leveling spacers to keep the front end the same height as the rear. My kit should be arriving soon and just wanted some input.

    Thanks

You did a full 3” lift all around? Stacking spacers on a lift is not advisable, and honestly defeats the purpose of even buying a suspension lift. If you want a level stance, do 3” in the front and get a 2” lift spring in the rear. Spacers on top of a 3” lift would make some ugly CV angles.

Thanks that's what I thought just needed some clarification. Yes it is a full 3" OME kit. Also with OME UCAs to correct the caster issues. I will be doing a diff drop to make sure the CV angles are still good

What kind or caster angle are people running with a 3 inch lift and 285s on the 5thgen 4runner.
