Someone posts a simple, innocent thread asking for information on speedometer accuracy and you jump in with:

    So... Yeah...

To answer your question, since you seem concerned and need an answer - I tend to cruise at a speed where I'm going faster than the speed limit but where a cop probably wouldn't bother to pull me over. For me that is usually 5-6 mph over. Being off by a few MPH could put me into the 8-9 MPH over range, which to me feels more like the range where a cop might consider pulling me over if he's bored or having a bad day. So, yes, those few MPH can make a difference to some people. Obviously you can compensate for it in your mind, but it would be nice to have it more accurate on your dash.

so you are concerned about the accuracy of an instrument that you don’t follow anyway?

I’m sorry, good sir, it just doesn’t make sense.

to the OP, I’m sorry if that came off as abrasive. Not my intention. And to @deusxanime , I’m sorry I hurt your feelings.

anyway, this has gone on far too long here, and is just cluttering this thread. You are more than welcome to shoot me a message if you would like to continue @deusxanime

Not sure I'd call any word of it witty, but it's defintely entertaining.

It's impossible for the speedometer to be accurate all the time. As the tires wear down and get smaller in diameter it will change. This has been true of every car ever made. We just didn't know it until we started getting GPS units. If you're off by 2 mph now it will be accurate in a year or so when you get some miles on your tires.

Actually it is the opposite. Most people I've seen talk about it have said it is closer to accurate by putting slightly larger tires on (265/75R16 on ORs, 265/70R17 on Sports). So, if anything, putting additional wear on the tires (making them smaller), would actually make it LESS accurate.

LOL You come into this thread flaming us for having a discussion, and somehow I'm the one trolling/with hurt feelings? OK buddy...
