I hope it doesn’t go away, but with the price of replacing some of the newer windshields I’d understand if it did. Just reporting what I heard from the service side of things whom deals with insurance. Maybe it’ll just raise premiums to keep the $0 deductible for newer vehicles? Who knows? Time will tell.

i wouldn’t expect any changes. free glass coverage isn’t anything new and it’s not a huge risk for insurance companies. in florida you don’t pay extra for free glass. there are several others states that offer free or low deductible glass replacement. i can’t see all of these states changing laws all of a sudden.

but yes, premiums can always change. and remember, glass claims can raise your premium.

can anybody in here tell me about any detriments to using some local peeps to change my windshield? There's lots of offers where I can get a gift card for using certain companies thru my insurance, and I have glass coverage thru my insurance. (I know the company will charge the insurance company hella high, which is why they give u some of the money). Will I get any short end of the stick tho?

I've already got 6-8 window chips driving the Tacoma for a year now haha. Anytime I go up north I always get one during the trip

it can make a difference because different vendors may use different brands. you’re not always guaranteed to get oem, just like any other repair jobs through your insurance company.

I needa replace mine as well. I should have bought a used Taco without the sensors...

If I'm paying zero on glass, might as well just go to the dealer seeing that they'll need to re-calibrate right?

Apparently broken windshields are something everyone has in common.

    what a week so far..

Between grenading a CV on Sunday and repairing that, Losing my wedding ring out there, assuming while I was working on the truck, and then my wifes car got broken into yesterday.. ordered some motion lights to put on the garage.. and looking into cameras now. I feel bad because my truck is taking up the entire garage during the rebuild, and thats why she had to park in the driveway, plus she forgot to lock it.. so yeah.

Windshield installation market is un-regulated in case you guys didn't know so not only is the glass important but the materials used to glue it and the tech installing are a huge deal.. your windshield might be installed correctly but a lot of installers are hacks and break things that you can't see until the next installer comes... if you want your windshield installed perfect/correctly (by one of the best installers in the nation use the link above.)

And the 0$ deductible glass coverage isn't going anywhere, insurance company's are going to just adjust rates.

    Did you purchase the Giant?

Ever check out Pink Bike for used bikes? Sometimes you can get some decent deals on there.

Can’t say this enough. I shop the classifieds for a mountain bike all the time on pink bike. I don’t think there is a better used network platform than pb. Unless you are shopping for a carbon frame, then I would def consider used.

I did get the giant stance 1. It was a 2019 so it was 25% off. I did find pink bike to be a useful tool and if I really get into it and want a better bike, I’ll def be on there to find my next ride.

Great site. Lots of useful info.
