Just an fyi, my sister was involved in a wreck and they did not want work with her regarding the diminished value claim. She ended up getting an accident lawyer who took care of everything including medical checkups.

I'm glad you're okay. If they are going to fix it, make them do it right. Stay on top of them. You be safe. Again, I'm glad you're okay.

$4866.73 sounds ridiculously low. Make damn sure OEM parts get put back on and get copies of the parts invoices stating OEM parts.

Let's hope they dont go that route. I am not the type of customer they want to do that with. I was on the receiving end of this and will make sure I get it. I am going through my insurer for everything. And they will be the ones to take care of it and seek reimbursement from her insurance.

Daytime running lights were one. It was brighter out than that camera made it look like.

Just a quick update. Shop got a prelim look at it today. That estimate of $4800 just went to "atleast $12000" according to the shop.
They will tear down tomorrow, but biggest concern they have is the right front cab corner pillar...it is a reinforced area for safety that consists of a 4 section pillar. The outer most is crushed, the next layer is the Ultra High Strength Steel beam and if it is damaged, they will total the truck.
If it is not and they dont hit threshold to total truck, it will be in shop for minimum of a month. The dash and everything has to come out for repairs in that corner.

    Yay me!

I’m not in the insurance biz but common sense told me that first quote was low. Just having a minor scratch repaired is $300 today.

Yeah that’s a real shitty spot to get hit you would need a whole new cab for the new sheet metal to sit right as they can’t use heat to straighten it...start shopping for a new one.

My uneducated mind is saying that I would be hoping for it to be totaled

I hate to ask, but did you have your head lights on? Silver/gray/black vehicles are difficult to see on a day like that. But yes I agree with one of the other posters that she must have been stuffing her face with corn dogs

If they repair it I would pick it up from the body shop and drive it to the dealer and trade it in. It seems like anytime a vehicle is in a major wreck there are always quirky issues and problems that linger. At least "Karen" was driving an Infinity so she probable has good insurance.

Todays vehicles are never the same after they are involved in a collision.

Daytime running lights were on. This occurred at 5 p.m. central. Video is darker than it was in reality.
