    it is a v6 but I thought it was higher than 3.73, the truck has tow package, and all kinds of safety crap/traction controll

    4.10 gears, sliders, and lots of buttons.
    Running 4.10's with 33's would give better MPG, than running the same tires with 3.73's.....The engine isnt working as hard to spin them. When I went from 31's to 32's on my Dodge (4.7 V8), I regeared to 4.10's, and gained 2 mpg.....and MUCH better performance.

    plugging 265/70/16 and 265/75/16 in the tire calc above shows better MPGs for 3.73s than 4.10s. tire weight has a lot to do w/ it though and so does skinny pedal. krookz's 33" MTs and wheels weighted ~110lbs and my 35" BFG ATs on 7089s was around ~89lbs and i was getting 18mpgs consistently.

    And how was the Tire Clac. programmed to determin better MPG with tires? The lower gear ratio doesnt always yield the better MPG.

    i would imagine that it is taking diameter and revolutions into account. still falls on the skinny pedal and knowing you wont take off the line as fast w/ a larger tire and lower ratio.

    So 4.11 or higher has better acceleration right?

    The lower the ratio (numerically higher) the faster the acceleration but less top end.

    Actually.....Top end isnt a factor as the truck is still limited in top speed regardless of what gears your running.

    If your gears are sufficiently low, you'll hit top speed by readlining the engine in top gear and that fact, that you can't go any faster without over-reving will determine your top speed.

    However, most cars are either wind-limited in their top-end, or computer limited to allow for lower-speed rated tires to be fitted (they cost less) and more affordable insurance premiums.
