Anyone have any tricks on quieting down the wind noise from this thing?

I saw online somewhere (maybe even earlier in this thread) that someone got rid of almost all of the noise by covering the space between the roof and the cutouts in the front fairing with black tape. Definitely a temporary fix but I bet someone could rig up something more permanent.

If you use the bulb seal linked at the bottom of the page on the bottom edge of the fairing it will help a great deal. Apply the bulb seal and adjust the fairing down until contacting the roof.

I just purchased this rack and I have to say I’m impressed and it was well worth the money. Mine came with the antenna cut out, no numbers, really decent powder coating and coated hardware. The packaging was solid too. So it sounds like they’ve listened to all the advice. Everything fit together with minimal bending and banging. The lights are a little cheesy but I put them on anyway. I’m sure I’ll have more issues as I set it up but for now I don’t really see a good way to mount a shovel and ax. There limited areas for tie downs. I’ve had a Rhino rack and it’s no noisier than that on the highway. F93C1045-F1E0-4270-8A73-7F8021884713.jpg

Amazon. I didn’t ask for anything special (wish I read that before but it all worked out) and just want to add no paint chipped on install. I’ll let you guys know if it starts to rust. Really it’d just be remove the four mounting bolts take it down and Rustoleum the bejeezus out of it. I can live with that. But then again I might be eating those words lol. And I don’t mind being lectured about buying American..... by guys who drive Fords.

Made some mounts on it for my traction boards! I’m sure it’s been done before but pretty easy just some carriage bolts!

I like it. I do like the idea of the aluminum extrusion bars would make mounting things a lot easier but I like the rack I have.

Just an update and since the manufacturers seem to be paying attention my only suggestion for improvement. So far no paint chipping no rust and the lamps stay pretty tight and in position. I was able mount some gear for an all in mall crawling look. That’s the only problem I’ve run into: not enough holes in the cross bars to bolt mounting gear to. I kind of made it work but the options are really limited. I mean drilling my own holes is no biggie, but maybe double the number of ore drilled holes in the crossbar. I’m sure it can handle it.

Looks good! I agree with more holes to mount. I still would like to fit some aluminum extrusion bars on it for better mounting options.

I haven’t got any other pictures man I’m forgetful lol but I had to drill my own holes I used carriage bolts that went through the rack and then used washer lock washer and a nut to secure the carriage bolt to the rack
