Yeah. Seems to be that every time I get a new vehicle it rains. By tomorrow it is supposed to be snow...and I live on an "improved farm road" which is dirt/gravel...or now, mud and gravel...so the truck will be filthy by the time I get home tonight. Still....I get the truck today!!!

Awesome now we can talk about something else. Joking, you have to feel like a kid in a candy store right now. I would be. Congrats!! Is this a retirement present to yourself or was it just time for a new truck. The old one looks like it was in really good shape still.

I can't like this. One of my pet peeves, people not having any respect for others. It seems like a lot of bosses conduct themselves this way anymore. My second job for sure, which i won't be at as soon as i get my tent and rack on the truck.

My whole thing is if you decide (boss) not to work for that day. At least text or call me to not come in. It's a waste of gas.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Agreed, where's the common courtesy? That's some bullshit. Next time tell him you want paid for your travel time since he couldn't be bothered with a phone call.

Exactly, I just view it as disrespect. It is a waste of your time, gas, and now happiness. Same as the owner of the restaurant coming in 5 minutes to close with 12 friends. You know we are closing in 5 minutes and have already cleaned everything to close down. I'm at a point i don't cook past closing. If you want me there later schedule it and give me the hours, otherwise you're on my time.

I think that went out with my generation. Maybe even before and I was lucky enough to have an old school mother. Too many concepts have been lost in society. Common courtesy, basic respect (i struggle here at times), and the GOLDEN RULE!!!!

Yeah, sorry man. Can you find other work easily? I think you've posted a bunch of times about him being a jerk like that, right? I'm a boss too, and if my employee quit because of my own idiocy, I'd learn from it. Someone who would just continue being an jerk boss their whole life with a track record like that and never waking up to realize why they can't keep employees... just needs to be left alone, walk away, don't spend your precious or your best years of your life on a person like that.

Maybe if he was like... "Oh s---, man... I'm soooo sorry I didn't call you! Let me treat you to Dunkin Donuts this week." or something like that. Was he apologetic or cool like that and you forgot to write that part?

Or if he's just a jerk regardless and yet the pay and benefits are so good you don't want to leave, literally just call him every day when you wake up and ask him if you're on for work that day. If he doesn't pick up the phone, hit your snooze a half hour and repeat. If he still doesn't call back just don't show up till he calls wondering why your being a jerk employee. Have a few of those sessions reminding him why your not going to waste your time on his shenaniganz until he apologizes and you work something out.

60k service completed today. Spark plugs are a part of the scheduled service but I declined it. The service advisor thought it was ridiculous too since the plugs should last 100k. It may void the emissions warranty though. Also, had the frame checked as I got a notice a couple months ago. No perforation but recommended taking it back for the coating when it’s available at no charge. Should I get the coating? Figured if it’s free what the hell, right?

Technical difficulty tip please if someone knows a trick? I am pretty much done with my Volvo maintenance, all ready for inspection next week. BUT... one thing I could not accomplish was to change out the rear differential fluid! It has no drain plug underneath and only one of those single fill hole jobbies from which you both drain and fill, about halfway up the back of the back cover. So I didn't feel like cracking off the back cover to clean out the whole diff and then deal with the work of buying (or making) a new gasket and putting the cover back on. I'm thinking... "I got this, I have one of those fluid transfer jawns from Harbor Freight, I'll have this done in no time!" No dice. I cannot get that fluid to pump out. I tried my other transfer siphon pump (the crappy bulb syringe kind in the middle of two lengths of clear tube. That kinda worked if I sucked on it with my mouth, but I'm not having that crap in my mouth, sorry. That diff fluid is thick stuff.

So, anyone know a brand or name of a real transfer pump that actually works? I still am averse to cracking open the diff cover if I don't have to.

I'm actively looking for a new job. But I'm picky with what I want do to. This is by far my forever job. But its paying the Bill's for now. There's not to many good paying jobs by me even tho everything else is expensive as fuck like rent and all that shit. It blows mind how expensive this state is and yet there is no good paying jobs.

Silly me, I didn't have my thinking outside the box cap on. I own a nice transfer pump! If it can transfer thick pus out of a uterus, it should probably work on my diff fluid. No worries y'all, the can and tubes are disposable and no pet will get differential oil into their abdomen.
