I recently read an article about their refreshes and how they kind of shot themselves in the foot. Refreshing models in years that didn't make sense and now it has put them way behind in the refresh cycle.

I've followed Toyota for a long time. On a strict financial side of it, from Toyota perspective, it's better to have the generations go as many years as they can get. This means they don't have to redesign and re-engineer all new tooling to make these new parts. Which means they can keep the prices down. We may not see at as lower price but I can assure you if Toyota put out new gens of Land Cruiser and Prado and Hilux as often as our great Murican manufacturers did, the prices would be higher. So it's a double edged sword for them, but they're not willing to let go of the reliability in the engineering and building to put out more frequent generations of it. A big reason of why I'm a big old Toyota nerd, their unwavering dedication to LONG TERM reliability and quality.
Plus Toyota manufacturing fascinates me, same with Japanese culture in general.

Honda used to run models five years. Refresh at the 4th year....before they had all the models they have now.

The ONLY thing I can complain on about with my truck is the no telescoping wheel. LoL So, you're not wrong.

I really really like the look of the third gen, it's like Toyota went back to a more.......Toyota looking truck, I guess. Dunno really how to explain why I like the looks of it better:D just that it looks more Toyota to me than the second gen. But the second gens are great trucks too. They really are. But on looks only, show me where to sign for that third gen

I would agree, in stock form. A built out, or even just lifted with wheels and tires, 2nd gen looks awfully good.

@Drogen's rig looks pretty damn good.

Try to get it to load. Not sure the internet on base is going to allow for it.
