Speed sensor wire?

Audio is AC voltage, and AC works totally different than DC.
Feeding two different AC sources into the same wire causes current to backfeed into each device (among other things) and causes damage. The fuse blows to prevent too much damage, but repeatedly replacing the fuse and trying again just lets more and more damage occur until something gives.
you're pretty lucky the JL amp isnt fried too

 

Ok so I also had the infinity powered sub amp on these wires before the JL amp. I had the infinity powered amp high levels tapped into the maestro harnesses right rear pos and neg to get its signal. I do believe the infinity powered amp is fried though neither fuse in it is smoked

Ok so this shouldn’t have messed anything up? It was fine how I tapped it? I’m trying to understand fully how I fucked up this last time so it doesn’t happen again @ anybody who knows and is willing to help a brother out

 

tapping the sub there was fine because that signal was being used as an input to the infinity.
once the JL was added, thats when things went wrong.

long story short, dont let OUTPUTS touch each other. cap off the speaker wires from the new radio and dont use them

 

So basically what I did was equivalent to taking the ends of the two powered sources. Head unit and JL in this case. Powering them up with 13.8 volts and touching the ends of the live wires together??

 

they werent powered with 13.8v DC
they were powered with AC volts. Whole different ball game

 

but yes. dont touch hot wires together is the main point to learn lol

 

Damn okay. I wish the maestro instructions would’ve been more clear for newbs like me. I was thinking I had the shit figured out and was about to rock out in my truck with all this cash spent then... here we are. Thanks for clarification @destin_meeks and @JDattilio and all @dolbytone help and input. I’m sure it’s been almost as frustrating for y’all helping me out. I hate asking for help and bugging ppl but Thanks again and I’ll probably be bugging y’all more once my headunit is in my hands. Toyota dealer won’t sell me an entune unit wo me allowing their tech to look over all the wiring.

 

Electricity will travel along any path available to it, including towards another power source unless it is prevented from doing so.

 

What you did was SORT of like hooking a garden hose and a fire hose together and then attaching them to fire nozzle. The fire hose pressure is too much for the garden hose and the back pressure burst the garden hose.

 

you can do this, however you need a one way diode so current is only flowing one direction otherwise you go current coming from the amp trying to go to radio and speakers and current from the radio trying to go to the amp and speakers thus shorting the circuit; damaging radio or amp.

Make me a reasonable offer. I’m taking a big hit on these pieces for what I paid back in November and December for them all. My loss your gain

 

@destin_meeks can you tell me which is the speed sensor wire for the Kenwood ddx 8905s? I don’t have a pink wire on my stereo harness. Does the speed sensor wire get detected through data?

 

it probably doesn't have one.

mostly, only units with NAV or wireless carplay/androidauto will have the VSS wire

 

Thanks. Ok just a couple more dumb questions then I’ll try playing it and hopefully be done for a while! The back of the Kenwood head unit has rear rca on top front in center and sub on bottom. Should I put my sub outputs channel 1&2 as rears fronts as 3&4s and sub as 5? Does it matter as long as my rcas are matched up at amp and head unit as long as my speaker wire from each door matches?

 

I’ve also de pinned my speaker wires from TO2 harness. Can I still tap my powered amp under my seat to the rr and lr speakers on the factory side of the harness. I’m running amp channels speaker wire to each of its own door speaker

 

There won't be any signal on those wires. Also stahp using taps. FFS you smoked two head units doing that stuff.

You bought a 5 channel amplifier, use it to power a sub or use the subwoofer out RCAs from your HU for your powered sub signal instead of sending them to the JL.

 

Everything seems to be working good except my rear speakers nor powered sub had any sound. I’m currently doing an oem system firmware update on the Kenwood. I’m going to untap my tears and run sub rca from headunit to powered sub. My front speaker volume was low earlier when I initially hooked it very thing up
