So I just called a different location and was told as long as they aren’t putting them on the vehicle they would do it. Sounds like I got up sold.

With my experience as long as a TPMS sensors are not in the tires when the tires are worked on,they will Mount and Dismount whatever you have, they just cannot remove the sensors from the tires if they're there already when I swap tires I had them break them down, I took rims around the corner of the building, remove the sensors then returned with the rims and told him I needed tires mounted on them

Wow, that law is a screwed-up mess.

When I bought my 2011 Taco in 2018, I had a new set of tires installed the week I bought it, at DISCOUNT TIRE. The TPMS light was not on when I drove in, but it was after they mounted the new tires (with the same TPMS sensors). They told me that I probably had a dying battery in one of the sensors, shrugged, and let me go. The light has been on ever since, and I've had the truck inspected twice since then. Neither time did the state inspection station even mention that my TPMS light was on, and the vehicle passed inspection. I suppose both the inspection station and that particular tire store are among those either ignorant of the law, or just don't care about it.

I’d be tempted to think that tire store may have broken a sensor and didn’t feel like fixing it.

Lots of drivers are or are simply too lazy. If you look back at the Ford/Firestone debacle the recommended tire pressure was 26 PSI (it was technically safe but left little margin) and most of the tires that failed showed evidence of under-inflation. Does anyone think that any large portion of drivers actually check their tire pressure once a month, or ever even?

And the entire ford/firestone fiasco is the reason for it becoming federally mandated.

How much did they charge for the sensors? I'm taking my truck in next week to have a set mounted and my light is on.

Sold them to me at cost. I think about $25 a piece. They’re usually $60 so I’m guessing the guy was misinformed. Not trying to gouge me on an upcharge.

I used to be anti TPMS as I obsessively check my PSI, then I picked up a nail while on the highway and my light went on before I felt it was losing air. I’ll never run without them again, damaged wheels and crashing sucks. I wished I had the PSI readings like my Wrangler had, as well as the auto programming when I swapped wheels.
