    ...Back at the truck, we now had a decision to make - we could either head back out the way we'd come - over the washboard-power-line-road-of-death, or continue south on Yates Well Road. I knew the Yates Well road would eventually - if it were passable - connect to the Colosseum Mine, and we both felt that we needed a bit of redemption in that department, so we decided to give it a shot - after all, the worst that could happen is that we'd have to turn around.
    Well, the worst that could happen is that we'd get stuck in the middle of nowhere and die from the cold, but that was unlikely. AmIRight? ;)

    Finally yanked out my bed liner. That was satisfying. The roll-on comes next.

    My truck has a topper, and I pulled the liner out by myself, so I cut the front lip off from inside so I could pull out the liner without to much messing around with the top. Problem is, the front lip of the liner fell down between the cab and the bed and due to its awkward shape it is trapped in there. Now it’s rattling around and no doubt wearing the paint slowly away. The irony is not lost on me. Any clever ideas before I remove the whole bed?

    I won’t fall very far. Problem is if I grab and drag or whatever too much I’m leveraging against body work. Maybe a long grabby handle from underneath. I haven’t tried that yet. Thanks for the ideas!

    Guys, what are the tell tale signs of a front diff going bad. I have a humming noise coming from the front end. Wheel bearings, tie rods, axles. Everything checks out good. 4wd, 4low works fine

    Could just be the needle bearing on the drivers side going bad. Are you lifted? Does the noise go away if you engage 4Hi?

    Look up the ECGS bushing fix. Its a big issue on lifted 2nd/3rd gens but can be a problem for 1st gens too.

    where do you guys get the clutch kit from?
    I have an 03 5spd 2.4 4 cylinder
    From what I have read aisin and luk kits are oem quality right?

    Replaced the 2 month old gasket on my transmission pan with a Toyota FIPG -

    Drain the front diff oil and see what comes out. Usually if it's 'going bad' you'll find an abnormal amount of metal shavings or chunks of metal in it.

    Eh 1 and 2...read below

    Gather up a few shop rags, a new can of brake cleaner, a scraper tool (the double sided one from Ace with a blunt edge and a sharp edge), plastic prying tool, 6 quarts of Toyota ATF, Toyota FIPG 00295-01281, disposable gloves, a 3/8" drive 6" extension, 3/8" drive 10mm socket, 3/8" drive 12mm socket, and 3/8" drive 14mm socket. For efficiency, I use a Milwaukee M12 ratcheting power tool.

    Pull dipstick tube (relieves pressure), and place square shaped pan underneath your transmission, and undo the 14mm bolt to drain. There's a crush washer, should've mentioned this earlier so you can buy a replacement.

    Slightly loosen the 12mm bolt that holds your transmission dipstick tube in place. Not necessary but it helped when I reinstalled my transmission pan.

    Anyway, with the drain you should pull about 4 quarts.

    Replace 14mm bolt.

    Undo the 19x10mm bolts; the pan will be stuck especially if it's on its original FIPG. Use your plastic pry bar to separate the pan. Careful though as there is still some fluid inside your pan.

    Another thing to keep in mind is, the dipstick tube meets your pan halfway down as the tube is comprised of two parts.

    All of the above is a 1

    Scrape all the mating surfaces of the gasket material; this is really the only hard part about the whole thing as the stuff flakes like crazy. This is where the scraper tool and brake cleaner come in handy.

    Let's not forget your transmission filter that you can clean out and reuse. Also held by 10mm bolts.

    Reverse for install and top off as needed.

    When using the FIPG, you have a small window before the stuff starts to settle so work quickly and make use of the tool that helps to squeeze the tube.

    If you don't include the time it takes to completely clean your pan, or the transferring of old fluids to empty bottles, I'd say an hour or so?
