It looks really good on a few bikes, but I agree that it looks like ass on a whole bunch of frames.

Hell yeah that’s pretty... Looks super fun to “commute” on.

Much better sound. I use my project 321 hubs as attention getters all the time. Except I had a lady jump off trail like cat was combing. Grabbing her chest, “Shit I thought that was a rattlesnake!”

I had the opportunity to test a Trust fork for an extended period of time. The Pinkbike review was spot on. However, if it sold for $750, I may pick one up (but not for >$2k) and tweak it. Also, at the end of my test period (4 days of riding in NorCal), the damper puked. Not ready for prime time.

The one and only gripe I have with this bike is the tires. They seem to break loose so easily so my buddy switched to Maxxis. Were in Dallas so the terrain may be different, but just a heads up, it rides much better with different tires.

Not sure why that bike comes with a purgatory on the back, move that Eliminator to the rear and pick up a Butcher for the front for an inexpensive performance improvement that grips and rolls well.

Purgatory is a good tire for trail and XC, not enough big knobs for any sort of gravity riding though in my opinion.

I don’t know spesh very well, but isn’t that a stumpy st? A trail/XC bike.

Not meaning to be a dick. Just seems like a fitting tire to spec out if that’s the intended category for the bike :notsure:

I’ve never ridden on a purgatory so I haven’t a clue what terrain it handles well, or poorly.

I think you're right in that its an ST but the frame is the same as the LT stumpy and as a whole punches above its weight on the descents IME. I guess what I was trying to get at was that you give up basically nothing by running the Eliminator out back and running a DHF clone (Butcher) on the front for a much improved riding experience. My wife has an ST that i ride occasionally (we both fit a medium) and the purg was pretty lacking in all departments, it got swapped out for and Eliminator and we both agree its much better, without really having a drag penalty. Hers came with a butcher on the front already so no change needed up there.

Truth be known I know little to nothing about available tires, pros/cons. I've been running Bontrager XR4s for as long as they've been out. There are likely far better options for my application, and far worse options.

I tend to chock up most shortcoming that happen to me on trail to rider error or lack of skill ability rather than possible equipment issues. For instance I due have the front end wash out on me more often than I'd like. Could be my tire or suspension setup, probably just the shitty pilot though.

I love the XR4 as an SE4( beefier carcass) and in the back. Not my favorite as a front tire though, you could swap to an XR5 up front in addition to trying to weight the front end more to reduce washouts. I am all in for running a more aggressive tire on the front than rear, its easy and fun to recover a rear slide, a front drift is usually a shitty situation that not many enjoy or want.

You guys couldn't be more right. buddies upgraded theirs to butcher 2.6 and makes bike ride like $. I was using their spare for a bit with upgraded tires. But those wheels are like $100 a pop.

The 2.6 Butcher is a beauty of a tire.

Also ran a Stumpy with 2.6 minion and those tires grabbed everything.

I'll likely dabble around when its time to retire the current set. Good point on weighting the front end. I feel I have a tendency to steer the bike moreso than I do to lean the bike and 'english' it.

Edit: That statement makes total sense to me, but may not to others.
