    Hey guys,

I've got a 2006 Toyota Tacoma prerunner. This morning when I parked at work, I took the keys out of the ignition, opened my door and my head unit was still playing music. Normally, it'd shut off once I opened my door. This time it stayed on. Along with the clock underneath. I have no idea why this is happening and am concerned.

    Any suggestions?

    Welcome to TW! :hattip:

Certain European vehicles (especially German) have the ability for the radio to work without the keys, but I've never heard of this happening in a Tacoma! Will the radio shut off if you hit the power button or does it just stay on?

Could it be a bad door switch? Did the Door Ajar light on the dash & the dome light come on when you open the door?

    Hey guys,

I have an aftermarket head unit I had professionally installed in 2013. I can turn the head unit off by pressing the power button. My truck clock still remains on. It's so weird. I tried opening all the doors and then shutting them and the problem still persists.

Odd that it's just happening now - unless it was always like that and you didn't notice. Maybe an issue with the fuse it's tapped into? Always on circuit or an issue with the fuse?

Does the dome light turn on when you open your door (when the light switch is on the 'door' position)?

The factory radio and clock in a '06 Taco turns off immediately when you turn off the key. If someone wired the aftermarket deck to stay on till you open the door, they did some creative wiring to make it do that. I would say something went wrong with their creative wiring. Possibly a stuck relay.

Pretty sure that rules out the door switch being faulty. Do you know where the switch or accessory power from the stereo was run when it was installed?

There's also an aftermarket box that does this same thing.
