How many hours does it have on it? Our Ford 4630 is a 1993 model and has 1,200 on it. I’ve had it 3 years and put 65 on it.

Just talked to one of my brothers coworkers and he said they work on more 900’s than 1100’s but it may be because they sell more 900’s. He said the gas ones are junk.

    You spelled New Holland wrong...
J/K. I very much liked my Kubota, it just had some shortcomings due more to when it was built than anything. And the newer NH's are made by LS rather than Shibaura, so I wouldn't even look at a new one.

That implies a shit-ton of idling time...
Unless, of course, you guys drive everywhere at 2mph

Holy bejeebers, you guys need to get out there and spend more time tractor-ing! I've had mine almost exactly 2 years and I've put over 200 hours on it so far, as a 'nine-to-five-er' who only gets to play in the evenings or on weekends (or when I take a staycation like I did this past summer)

    Which means AGCO, these days.

Edit- Although some of the newer ones use a Shibaura diesel, rather than an Iseki. Not that Iseki makes a bad product, but generally speaking 'made in Japan'>'made in Korea'

Same as the New Hollands; if you buy one built prior to the mid-2000's you got a very reliable Japanese tractor (sort of like JD used to do with the Yanmars). Since then, it's just an LS with different stickers and a bigger price tag.

But, who knows. The 80's built JD's and Yanmars were disparaged in their day for being 'imports', but have turned out to be very durable little rigs. Maybe the Korean tractors of the last 10 years will turn out the same way.

My TC18 is an '01 as well. I did a LOT of research about who made what when I was looking for something newer than my old Kubota, because of all of the 'outsourcing' that is done these days.

Edit- The New Holland/LS partnership so far as I know just extends to the CUT/SCUT models. I didn't look into the full-size tractors at all because I wasn't looking at them at all.

Jesus, I would have too. Even if it didn't work just a set of rear tires is worth that much.
I've been impressed with mine; it's a little tank. When I upgrade I'll probably keep it (which will delay my upgrade somewhat) because it's such a handy little beast.

That fuse box must be a common problem, then, because I had to take it apart and clean it pretty severely when I bought my TC18, too.

This radiator apparently has been leaking for a while with all the rust around this side. As much trouble as it to remove I just ordered a new Clancy through A & I. Some of the bolts on this end the heads were almost gone. I remembered last night I had these grip tite sockets and have never tried them, I know why now, they don't work. Wound up using a 6 pt. 12 MM on one, an 11MM on another one and a 10MM on one, had to drive it on with a hammer.

Got all 18 bolts out without breaking one. Thankful for that! The inside of the bolster looked like a porta-jon at a state fair. It was nasty. Cleaned all that out, re tapped the holes, and sanded the surface. Flushed the engine by pouring hot water through the top radiator hose. Got to go get 18 stainless steel bolts and it's ready for a new radiator.

A Cub (what I'm working on) is only 10HP and weighs anywhere from 1477 to 1877 according to tractor data dot com.

these two fords are what we have at home. The one with ROPS is a gasoline engine, one without is diesel. Both are 3 cylinder. We recently rebuilt a lot of the hydraulic system on the diesel, and had the top end redone because she was knocking. She runs ok but the bottom end is weak.
here is a pic to show you just how bad the rear gannon leak down was lol.

Yeah, they used to build them really heavy & rugged for traction purposes. But the compacts they're making now are for people who want to drive over their lawns so a lot of the brands have engineered as much weight as possible out of them.
My dad's 640 is somewhere around 3000lbs, BEFORE the ballasted tires and the loader. And the loader is built CRAZY heavy compared to what you see now; the entire thing is 1/2" & 3/4" steel and the cylinders are probably 4" in diameter. Even though it's just a trip system (so no curl cylinders) I bet it weighs at least 1200lbs.

Edit- It's a propaganda video but it illustrates the point:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hz9bGdaRbnk

Mahindra hasn't engineered all of the weight out of their tractors; they still use big crude castings with a lot of heavy cast iron. It's neither good nor bad, just how they still do things. Personally, I think a lot of it has to do with their using a lower-quality metal for the casting, so they have to cast it heavier for durability purposes. But I'm not an engineer, so I could be totally wrong.
