Added some Rough Country HD2 running boards. Fit high and tight, really didn't loose any ground clearance, sits flush with frame underneath. Great construction/fabrication, fitment, durable, and half the price of the Toyota steps. No need for thousand dollar sliders either as I'm not rock crawling or anything.

Check out DupliColor's site to see if they have a color match for your Dads Tacoma. I've used their products for years with good success.

The door side of the inside door handle is scratching up. Does anyone make a plastic protector for this area?

I've had reasonable results with this product. Fairly inexpensive. I went with cleaning solvent, primer, base coat and clear coat in the 1/2 oz bottles with brush in the cap to cover a 2" x 1/4" scratch on the plastic part of the front bumper. Probably could have done without the solvent and just used alchohol. Get close and you can see it's not a perfect match and not perfectly smooth, but from a few feet away, it's not noticeable.

I did this last weekend too, my God, it took me 3+ hours to scrape and clean all the rubber cement off to make a clean surface to stick the newer black tacoma letters, and the one in the tail gate. Certainly wasn't easy. I used goof off, and soap and water.

Mostly small cosmetic/utility things. The bigger projects are the tonneau cover and hood struts. I am loving this truck though. I'm actually shocked by how big it seems compared to my Gen 1.

all Toyotas do this factory or not. It stinks. Can't believe someone hasn't "hacked" this yet.

If you are talking about the recess behind the exterior door handle that is getting scratched by fingernails there is a product called Cupeez. Similar to a refrigerator magnet. They form to the contour of the door handle pocket, are adjustable, removable and are available in colors as well as designs. I've used them on my 2nd Gen and now my 3rd Gen Tacoma's. Excellent product and we'll worth the cost. Mine are black carbon fibre and I purchased mine on ebay.
Google the Cupeez site for a better selection of colors. Hope this helps.
