    Has anybody found a quick mod (change a resistor, swap a cap, etc.) to eliminate or reduce the automatic 'Door' setting shutoff delay of the 1gen dome light from >30s to something faster, say 0-5 seconds after the last door is closed?

    Thanks if any ideas.

    You can use a hammer, but that only works once, lol

    I’m sure you could rig some sort of circuitry with a timer, but it’d likely have to be custom, I’ve never seen a mod like this before.

    If you could make one with an adjustable timer, bet you could make some money on it.

    @frizzman

    Thanks. That would make sense for some models. I have an SR5 with manual locks so if one were to lock
    the truck and walk away while in Door mode, the only option is to wait for the timer for the interior lights to shut off by timing out. That bothers me at night, so I simply don’t use Door mode and just switch the light manually only.

    I could just wire the computer completely out of the light circuit, but that would probably take longer than it is worth. If the circuit times out by an RC pair somewhere or similar, that would be worth the time to re-tune. It is just not obvious where such a thing might be located however, or perhaps if it might be programmable somehow.

    Yeah I just haven’t traced the wires in the dash for that. Might this be controlled from the box behind the side panel to the right of the passenger’s right foot?

    I was just thinkig of an in line circuit or something.

    That’s all controlled by the ecu I think, and I doubt you can reprogram that.

    Simplest would just be to install a momentsry switch of something, that’s connected to a timer that interrupts the voltage for a minute or so. Hit the switch and it cuts voltage to the light for a minute ish. That way you shut it off when you want, but you don’t have to remember to turn it back on.

    I dunno, I failed circuits twice in college, so I’m not the guy to ask how to build it, lol.

    Good idea, an interruptor that watches signals and times out after a couple mins could defeat the delay yet not have any other impacts. If I end up doing something like that I’ll post the circuit.

    It all comes down to how the system is timed it might be a simple matter to put an adjustable timer .

    I have never used my dome light so never looked into things any more.

    Moot point this was never an option in my year no timers in the dome light circuit

    Ahh I see, I seem to have assumed there was still a circuit that cut the light when it recognized the doors were locked. I rarely use my light like @Wyoming09 said. Hell it was off for almost 8 years straight until I needed to look for something. Now I have LEDs so its brighter but mine still turns off almost immediately when the door closes (key ON or doors locked, must be part of the power options circuit/ecu)

    You could always wire in a momentary button (like the one that's there for the door chime), and wire it between the wires for the light, that way it cuts the circuit when the door closes
