Nah. That’s the myth. Travel in a convoy with pickups trucks and 4Runners on a long trip. The Runner guys tow trailers, or have shit all over their roof. It’s the downside of SUV ownership.

I guess we disagree, I own both of them. When we do road trips the 4runner can hold a lot more. Although, that is with me wanting to keep everything dry and without a cap on my truck. If you had some sort of protection over the bed that does open up a fair amount of room. I still think the 4runner has a shit ton of space in it. If you stack stuff up you can fit a ton!

I have a canopy on my pickup, so that is the difference for sure.

with canopy you get more space I will allow. I still really think a lot of those guys probably just cram tons of shit on top to look cool. Have you seen inside their runners? Are they all full with the back seats down?

I don’t disagree there is space in there. For trips where you carry a lot of stuff, want the stuff out of the weather, and don’t want to be sharing your living space with rattling, stinky, or dirty stuff, or tow a trailer or put junk on the roof, it is hard to beat a 4-door pickup (of any make) with a canopy. However, for shorter trips the Runners are for sure great vehicles.

I think we finally agree!

    Sorry to derail guys :hattip:

On to topic at hand---This trail edition takes away all the extra space we are arguing about for a few beers. Stupid! :bananadead:

Every 4Runner around here has nothing but a 110# Rachel and her large cup of coffee. It's basically the vehicle for when Subaru loving dog moms get tired of the oil light being on and when older Karens try to intimidate them with their Highlander in the office car park. The same is true for the VW Atlas.

    Like, so many.
That’s funny. I see a few built T4Rs around town, but now that you mention it, I don’t see many.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
I didn't. In fact, I added the chrome tailgate letters to round out the cheap plastic chrome look on all four faces. If I can find a replacement chromed sharkfin then the body will be finished.

Do we get the door jamb sticker for reduced payload notice? I really want that too just to be compliant.

    A few pics.
2 things I noticed, the bed storage looks to be bolt in, so it could come out, or possibly be added to other models. And it looks like it did not get any suspension upgrade, still riding on the SR5 platform. IMG_20200206_154108.jpg IMG_20200206_154123.jpg IMG_20200206_154152.jpg

It did / does not. SR5, old Trail, current TRD OR all share same suspension.

First mod: ice chest storage on both sides. Also, there is probably a drain hose going thru the bed floor for the left ice chest side storage.
