I ran a couple TT pouches to replace some Condor ingress I bought in Kuwait. Ran that setup till multicam and ran the plate carrier and TAPS for a-stan then duplicated my old setup in multicam afterwards. (had to turn-in my plate carrier and multicam gear for PCS)

If you look at the reported weather in the area, listen to the ATC transcripts and look at the radar track it's fairly obvious what most likely happened. The pilot wouldn't commit to flying his IFR aircraft in IMC and continued flying SFVR through several controlled airport's airspace rather than landing and then flew into the side of a hill at around 150kts and 4000fpm rate of descent.

Nothing happened to Kobe's helicopter. It was functioning 100% as intended when the pilot flew it into the hill side.

For reference, I'm a commercial helicopter pilot and certified flight instructor. I just had an in-flight malfunction and forced-landing. Everyone walked away. Wouldn't have survived the same in an airplane.

Clipped some unavoidable power lines trying to avoid a car and a truck.

I amended my post. But, yes. The helicopter was fine until the pilot, who shouldn't have been flying in those conditions, was forced to go fly in those conditions.

He wasn't a moron. He made a stupid decision. It cost him his life instead of his job. There's a dark side to this industry people don't understand. We spend YEARS developing our skills, working up into bigger, better aircraft. Sucking up shit pay and shit work to land a job that will actually keep the lights on. When your client or worse, your boss says something like "if you don't take this flight I'll find someone who will" it's pretty hard to say no. Is it the right thing to do, yes. But it could ruin your career. Even when a pilot knows they should not risk it, too many will to try to keep their job. We are expendable to our clientele. There is a line of other pilots right behind each of us chomping at the bit to get the same job.

I feel bad for the pilot. He knew better but for some reason he felt obligated to go.

    Don't fly helicopters, kids.

Ceiling was less than 100ft that day.
