It’s a must ( IMO) if you’re rolling with big tires and gear.

Checkout: sosperformance.com I purchased the 6piston BBK with rotors. They also discounted 20% for being a TW member.

From other responses to this question, it sounds like the front coilovers SHOULD be okay, but just to be sure...

I'd like to purchase extended travel King 2.5s (front and rear) without changing anything else right now. Just dial in a mild 1-1.5" lift up front to level things out, and to get better damping than the ridiculously underdamped TRDOR Bilsteins. Are there any conflicts, particularly in the rear? Are the extended travel shock bodies too long for the stock mounting locations?

I'll do UCAs and new leaf packs down the road.

You DO need an after upper control arm with extended length coilovers. They allow for more droop than the 0-2" coilovers, which will cause binding at that balljoint at full droop. You could get the 0-2" coilovers now, and have them modified later to be an extended length coilover when you upgrade the control arms. Only difference btw the 0-2" coilovers and extended length is an internal spacer.

Thanks for the quick answer. Good to know it's as as easy as removing the internal spacer to get that droop travel later on.

I should be able to run the rear extended travel with the stock leafs though, right?

By the way, I definitely plan to purchase from Accutune when ready. I appreciate that you guys take the time to answer questions in this forum.

I ran the extended version for awhile without lifting the rear. And no need to add longer brake lines. I’m currently lifted 1.5” in the rear with extended shocks with plenty of slack on the brake lines. I posted a pic on this thread before on how it sits though and it seems like barely any shaft showing but it’ll be good.

I have the same problem. Super frustrating. Have about 2,500 miles on my shocks.

Extended coil over fronts with 600lb springs, SPC UCAs, and extended rears. I get the slam/thud/whatever you call it on the rebound. I have taken out almost all preload and am going to try and go to the factory preload setting to see if it will solve my problem. My shocks are currently sitting right about at 21" from middle of bottom bolt to top hat.

Funny thing for me is I am nearly certain my slam/thud/whatever you call it is only coming from the right front. Makes me wonder if my rf shock is low on nitrogen...

Revalving will solve this.. off-the-shelf valving is not perfect.

Sitting at ride height. At full droop, it’s limited by the leaf springs. That’s what really matters for the extended brake lines and stock leafs are fine obviously but also 1.5” lift at full droop is fine too with no need for extended brake lines. Some here actually go 2” of lift in the rear and still clear at full droop with no extended brake lines.

Ahh if it works then nice! I have 2" ext for better safe than sorry on trail and I have 2-2.5" in lift in rear

Gotcha, yeah with that lift I would probably do the same. Best way for anyone to do it is just lift the rear up and let it droop to see if there’s any movement on the lines. I think the other guy was just trying to use extended travel shocks with no lift on stock leafs.

When a king coilover fully extends, there is metal on metal contact inside the shock, which will make that noise. Checking nitrogen pressure is not a bad idea.

Because I'm cheap I didn't want to spend $40 on the T handle collar adjustment tool. I started reaming out the hole closest to the set screw because I'm cheap and tried using the supplied tool without it being fully seated in the hole. :(

Then I realized a large diameter allen wrench and a pipe (breaker bar) orks quite well to move the collar that extra 1/4" I need to get the original tool fully seated. Not sure if this will work for you Taco guys but it's worth a shot if you're having trouble.

14" x 450lbs PAC springs. I'm in a Canyon though. This method worked on my previous 550lb King springs. 700lb springs may require a more stout wrench than what I use.

Yeah, a 10k Smittybilt winch with synthetic line and a steel stealth bumper (less weight than a full bumper). The GM trucks are weird in that they don't need the heavy spring rates use on the Tacoma and Tundra.

To be clear, I do the usual jack up the front end and let the wheels hang to reduce spring tension. I also spray the coils down with silicone lube before starting the adjustment process.

I realize this is a Tacoma forum but I get a lot of useful info in here and like to try amd give back when I think something is universal to most mid-size trucks.
