What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Re-installed my Rokblokz mud flaps after ripping them off...
These flaps are great but they screw into the factory plugs. Makes a very easy install but not any stronger.
So I bolted the straight through with SS bolts.

You can see the 3 new SS bolts and the factory plug at the top.




Since I lost the spacers after it ripped off, I 3D printed some new ones out of PETG.

I've got a avic 8200nex in my tacoma and a 8400nex in my 4runner, they work awesome.

I did what you're planning on doing. On the back of the emblem there are 3 plastic things sticking out, what I did was I cut those 3 pieces off and used some JB weld to glue on some small bolts on it. small enough to fit in the grill slots. the i got some nuts and washers and screwed them down. Unfortunately I didn't take pics of the back of it , but here is the final product. Makes it easy to take off in case I want to change the emblem to something else.

Installed my rugged radios VHF antenna with the magnet mount until i decide on final location.




Also moved my VHF Race Radio to the little cubby next to the shifter.

The nice thing about the factory installation is that when you do rip the mud flap off, it's the plastic that gives way and doesn't tear up your fender. Yes, you've made a tighter connection, but you've also created potential for greater damage.

Mine is hanging from my shop ceiling most of the time

 

Before the oven method you can try this:

1. Remove from truck and remove all lights
2. Blow dryer or heat gun through one of the light holes to evaporate condensation
3. Let settle over night with holes pointed upward
4. Apply flowable silicone to the gaps between the clear lens and grey housing (2 tubes of this flowable silicone can last for about 2.5 times around each light)
5. Let dry, reapply flowable silicone to areas that can use more
6. Let dry, reinstall in truck

This is assuming you don’t have hairline cracks in your clear lens. I also keep the vents open on the back side of my light housings and ran hoses to my intake to keep air flowing through them. Time will tell if this method works.
