    In addition to the military and civil service badges, I think it would be cool to choose either a generic SAR or Mountain Rescue badge.

    I'm an avid hiker and I met a group on a rescue out here where a buddy and I helped two lost hikers. Long story but they suggested I apply. I was told that they put up advertisements on facebook by the other applicants I met during the "interview" hike. Check facebook groups or your local hiking/camping store. It's a branch of the police department out here so maybe check out your PD's website.
