Will there be a decrease in sales price since the avg wage of MX is significantly lower than TX? Doubtful..... I know all the composite beds are built in MX but this is sad....

The article states that in 2019 the plant made 167,000 trucks. Toyota made approx 248,000 Tacoma's in total for 2019. Texas will lose approximately 80,000 units, of which they will pick up at least 10,000 of Sequoias. As I stated earlier, if the next gen Tundra is more successful than its predecessor, TMMTX could easily pick up those lost 70,000 units.
I don't understand why people are upset. The plant in San Antonio is running over maximum capacity now and most Taco's are from south of the border already.

They’re taking Tacoma away from the US. Tacoma’s were designed and built here first, the brand is Japanese but the Tacoma is very American. It rubs the wrong way to make more production capacity in Mexico when the biggest customers, designers and builders are here in the US, we don’t know yet if Tundra will be successful.

Lolwut. They're literally making the same vehicle just at a different location. It's still a Toyota plant held up to Toyota standards. This is economics/capitalism 101.

The amount of butt hurt and xenophobia just makes my laugh. Yet some these same people have no problem buying counterfeit products instead of USA made.

Quality is not the Issue. Tacoma’s have been US made since the 1st gen in 1995, Tacoma was designed in the US specifically for North America to replace the Hilux which is a global product. Now more and more trucks are being taken away and built across the border.

People can handle their $40 shirt being made overseas. $40k trucks is something else.

What difference does it make if the QDR is the same? There's been no difference in quality despite all the hyperbole on TW. I went through the same shit when I had a Jetta Mexican vs. German and guess what they both had the same common failures. It not like they were sourcing parts from different suppliers.

Your Tacoma will rust, shift, drive, and have rear drum brakes no matter where it's built.

Is it about the jobs or is about the people screwing them together?

I don't care that GM is closing plants. I don't buy their products and I think the company is garbage.

Good for them. That's what happens when you get a $50billion bailout and still only make one car anybody wants.

Not sure why something being made in Mexico is a bad thing.

Based on the millions of trash vehicles that Dodge and GM cranked during the 80s and 90s, I am not sure that being made in America is a good thing though.

You can just grab a Transformer toy from the 80s or an old Japanese 80s music keyboard to see the absolute perfect quality that Japanese manufacturing can produce.

It’s just a different level workmanship in Japan.

Countries are becoming more and more irrelevant. For some strange reason, these arbitrary lines drawn on maps, that are mostly invisible from space, are considered permanent in our minds. They didn’t exist before, and will change, or cease to exist in the future, same as it has always been. Look at a map of Europe from even 30 years ago. The USA is unlikely to exist in a couple hundred years, same with Mexico. Toyota will likely still be around. On a strange level, it almost makes more sense to be loyal to Toyota than whatever country you happen to consider your home.
