I know it's been mentioned in here already, but I finally watched Neat: The Story of Bourbon. Really cool movie (documentary?). I loved all of the old farts talking about bourbon. You can tell that the industry, the spirit, the process, etc. are all part of their soul. They come across so genuine about it.

The younger folks in it tended to be kind of the trendy type that took a lot of the romance out of the stuff. One guy had a "mixologist" come to his homemade speakeasy to make cocktails for a party. The "mixologist" was saying that he likes to incorporate honey in his cocktails to "bring out some of the honey qualities of the whiskey". Felt so forced.

There is another guy that has a bar specializing in jello shots. They make a jello shot featuring Pappy Van Winkle. Don't get me wrong, I'm firmly in the camp of "you do with your whiskey what you want", but that came across as an attention grab more than a quest to find a way to enjoy a sought after whiskey.

The exception was Marianne Eaves. She had spent a while at Brown-Forman, but was the master distiller and Castle & Key at the time of filming. She's since left them. She is young (just in to her 30's, I think), well-spoken, and seems to care deeply about the industry. I enjoyed listening to her talk on it.

There is talk from Jimmy Russell (Wild Turkey), Fred Noe (Jim Beam), Chris Morris (Woodford Reserve), and others. There is even some old footage of Booker Noe :D.

If you have Hulu, I recommend checking it out. I'm guessing available for rent on Amazon Prime Video, too. It's worth a few bucks to watch.

I'm only 37, so this isn't coming from someone that is too old and crotchety (yet).

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with young people being in to whiskey - not at all. My brother-in-law is 25 and in to it - we have a great time together.

I'm saying the young people in that movie tended to be "less interesting".

    Price?
I think this one is the most expensive I've seen in person:

Yeah, I've been a pretty steady bourbon drinker since my early 20's also. Whisk(e)y in general, really. I've really been enjoying the Rye Revival, too.

I was able to taste this after touring the distillery a couple months ago. They told us on the tour that only a few states were going to get allocations until they get production ramped up. I’m hoping to see it come to Ohio soon.

    Finally cracked this open...
My non professional review is that it's super smooth with a thicker viscosity. Can definitely taste the maple and to steal the newest technical term.. it's less Burney

Had a pour of 2016 angels envy cask strength and wild turkey decades last night, both were delicious. Loved the amped up angels envy, the proof punched through the usual sweetness.

If anyone wants in on the Glen Carin order you have to the end of this week. At the end of the week we are going to close it out and start running all that have been ordered.

Speaking of bourbon flicks, I was channel surfing tonight and stumbled across Bourbontucky (https://m.imdb.com/title/tt4393206/) from 2015. Pretty good documentary... Really wish Fred Noe or Jimmy Russell were my grandpa! They seem some real good ol’ boys that would be a hoot to sip bourbon with!
