I tried searching for the thread that everyone posted in when WheelWell had the $200 off $400+ sale but it was gone. Lots of us posted clips in there for sound, I know a few posted some driving clips as well. I do have two idling clips, but that's it. I could try to get a few while driving but honestly saying my mic sucks and the vids don't do the exhaust justice.

But here, sorry for crap quality, this was when i first installed in last year.

I don't know about killing the low end torque because it feels the same to me. I did not come out duals with the same size pipe that went in so I think that makes a difference. You are correct that these trucks could use more torque but I don't see an issue with the Manual 6 speed which I have not having enough low end. $.02

Stock, with the back cut at the axle to prevent body damage while off road and rerouted for skid clearance.

Thanks! I looked up some clips of people posting different ones..so far I’m still leaning towards the borla system. I had magna flow on my frontiers and they were nice but on this one i think the borla has a nice deeper sound

I won’t argue with you since I don’t have a dual exhaust but the reason I didn’t get the duals is cause OVtune and DirtyDeeds Exhausts both said it kills the torque. Both of those guys specialize in optimizing power and they both use dynos for their testing so I trust their info to be accurate.

I like my MBRP dual exhaust w/ resonator tips...
It did not sound like a ricebox.

I have URD YPipes now, which I do not like, cause it makes the exhaust super ricey and hits my frame...

Planning on getting AFE's Twisted YPipe to replace URD's.
Hopefully will sound better and not hit my frame.

It's nearly a grand for the sport version. At that price i'd expect it to use flanges or v-bands instead of slip together fittings. It's pathetic when even the tip is a slip fit.

But what about the PATENTED RSC (Reflective Sound Cancellation) technology. I think that is worth the mark up. It even flows 15% better than stock which, I assume, means less back pressure and more torque loss at lower RPMS for my mean 3.5L. The top end games are worth it though. Also black exhaust tip.

As St.Germain sayes, it is all totally subjective, there is no tangible proof of any performance improvement in modifying the exhaust on these trucks. So it is what you find pleasing to the ear and your wallet that counts.

I just don't see the value. At that price point it needs to fully welded or have flanges or v-bands. Even the $600 Apexi I bought years ago had flanges

The even-more-expensive URD Spec-U exhaust is also terrible. The drone is killer and it clanks and creaks no matter how tight you clamp it... Worst purchase of my life. Would not do any further business with URD under any circumstances.

I’m looking at the AFE y-pipe, too. It appears to re-route behind the t-case, right? Wonder how it sounds with stock midpipe and muffler.

    TRD Intake, TRD exhaust

^^Above are some driver-seat pulls of the TRD exhaust + TRD cold-air intake and a new TRD air filter^^

The TRD exhaust/TRD Intake combo, with a new, clean and oiled TRD filter is the best this Motor can sound, Especially on the MT models where you can run the rev's up to where it actually starts to make sound.
The TRD exhaust/intake is factory-team quality/fit/finish and output that, while "conservative" falls in the range of expectations called "reality" considering the motor it is bolted to.
the TRD kit comes without the tin-like octaves, shitty-tuner buzz, or excessively cheap sounding rattle that fuck-huge 3"+ exhausts produce.

There is certain reality to V6-Atkinson style (internal header) motors like the 3rd gen tacoma, that no amount of gimmickry can give that V8 sound everyone imagines when they think after-market exhaust. Once you accept its not a V8 and start to accept the reality of what it is, there are a few choices out there that are decent relative to the truck.
Further, for whatever reason, the sound these kits put out simply isnt captured well by cell-phones or go-pros, especially the outside-the-truck with the camera aimed at the exhaust while someone pins the throttle.

Also, the full blown retardedness of customers is 50% of the problem:
"I want an aftermarket exhaust to be loud and sound good like a cammed LS-motor, but it has to also be quiet!!!" "I only want it to make noise exactly when I choose, and no other time!"
it turns out this is almost an impossible order for most engineering departments, and you simply cant have your cake and eat it too.
Consumers demand full-blown retardation, and scoff when they actually get it:Exhausts that please no one, in either scenario. They neither sound good when stomped nor provide any worthwhile measurable performance gains, because they are jammed full of flow-inhibitors and emissions crap. You truly cannot have something that is simultaneously "throaty" "growling" and "deep" while being "quiet enough for their domineering wife who wants them to go green for Bernie".
