Multi conductor wiring for rooftop lighting...

So after installing my 40" lightbar on my prinsu rack I started thinking.. I want more lights up there, I.E. some baja s1's or s2's for scene lighting on the front and rear sides. Anyone ever run some 4 or 6 conductor trailer wiring from their aux panels/switches and use that for multiple switch/lighting locations on their vehicle? All terminations/couplings aka wire harness would be self made with waterproof connectors and such

Just curious how peoples experiences went/if you've gone that route..

 

Yes, I ran 4 conductor trailer wire out through the bottom of my CHMSL to my overhead warning lightbar. In fact I actually ran two sets of wire out because of the number of functions in the lightbar. I also included flat four connectors on each one so I can quickly remove the light bar when I need to.

 

yep, works great, just make sure to use the proper size wire for what you plan on using.

 

Great point. That in fact was why I used two sets. Doubling up on hots and grounds gave me more than enough wire diameter for the planned amperage draw.

 

I ended up using this 9-conductor, 18 gauge wire and am very happy with it. This 20' length on Amazon is pure copper. The 40' roll for a few more bucks is aluminum with copper coating, which has twice the resistance. Weatherpack connectors all around as you mentioned.
