I dunno maybe because they’ve been selectively bred by trashy people to be sketchy asshole fighter/killers, just like a lab is bred to retrieve things and a blue tick to tree things.
And before the “owner not the animal” folks start beating me up with stats and rhetoric i would like to acknowledge IT’S
NOT THE DOG’S FAULT IT WAS BORN THAT WAY.
And yes, with a knowledgeable and conscientious owner a pit can be a well adjusted loveable sweetheart. Most people I see about town with a pit on a leash fail to meet those qualifications.

That said I think the fault in this case lies with a crossbow wielding moron

My ex's pitbull was a big baby with people, but not other dogs though. My step sister has a couple too. I wouldn't say they're aggressive, just temperamental. Just in my experience though, the pitbulls I've been around are less aggressive than ankle biters.

I'll throw this into the convo - look at the natural physical characteristics of them. They are so muscular. Not that German Shepherds, Dobermans etc aren't big strong dogs, you ever see one of them that's so naturally ripped and massive? So many pits look like they live in a gym like a professional body builder. If you're attacked by one of them you're not just kicking it aside. So I don't think it's always pits, I think it's that they're so strong that their attacks tend to result in pretty severe injuries because of their strength.

Yup, exactly. Not that a chihuahua can't give a nasty bite, but there ain't one out there big enough that most people couldn't kick one across the yard. That isn't happening with even the smallest pit. My friends' pit, Petey, was very calm and sweet. He would sit on the couch next to me and rest his head on my lap and enjoy a good belly rub. He was on the bigger side size wise, and had that ripped body builder physic. It something ever went wrong with him there was no way the average person was gonna stop that mass of muscle.

Took my newborn to his first appointment yesterday. Talked with his dr about vaccines and showed we’d already started his in the hospital (Hep b). The dr was happy to hear we’d had our flu vaccines already. He told us how the day before he’d treated a boy who had the flu. Get this, he’d had treated him for the flu a month before as well. First time he had B now he had A. He counseled the parents on the importance of flu vaccination. He said the parents still said they would not be giving any of their other children the flu vaccine.

Unfortunately it is the children who pay for their parents’ dogmatic stupidity.

by no means am i an anti vaxxer, i’m up to date, and so will my kids be. however i don’t see the need to yearly vaccinate for the flu either. i’ve never had a flu shot, and i’ve also never had the flu. same with my sister. i mean yeah it’s probably better to take caution, but in my experience it seems unnecessary

If that is the case, you are a statistical anomaly.

i mean i could be wrong, but i’m not the type to get the sniffles and run to the doctor. last time i was sick enough to take the trip i was like 13 and basically poisoned from a nasal medication. about the worst i ever get is an ear infection from hell which also hasn’t happened in probably 5 years. last cold i had was probably 2 years ago and lasted maybe 4 days

There's a special place for those that are responsible to protect the defenseless(pet owner, parents, etc) and than use that trust to harm those same defenseless they're supposed to protect, whether children, pets, etc; you know what I'm getting at.
Not much can get me riled up but that shit is at the top of the list

Really what it comes down to is keep your hands clean, avoid touching your eyes, openings of your nose, and ears and getting proper rest. Do that along with daily vitamins and zinc during cold/flu season and you’re golden. Hygiene is key. Too many people touching contaminated surfaces and then touching vulnerable areas where mucous membranes can only do so much to ward off infections.

Could be a statistical anomaly or a leach living off of the heard immunity. Thing is the flu changes every year so getting the vaccine is what provides the protection. Personally, having had the flu there is exactly NO chance that I'd skip the vaccine. A barely noticeable poke vs a week plus of feeling like shit?

I own one of the most muscular, ripped dogs I've ever seen. She's not a pit but I've owned 4 pits & all have been good.
