No one gives the Big Ten the respect they deserve. Watch the Buckeyes play the Badgers and you will see that the level of football is just as good as the SEC. And the Ohio State vs. Iowa game is guaranteed to be a good one. If Iowa can manage to win our next three games... Michigan, Wisconsin, Michigan State, I would guess we will be ranked somewhere around 8. Cant wait to play Ohio State at home this year. We are going to give them a game! Hopefully, Stanzi will still be healthy by then. But I do have to say... OSU does have an easy schedule... but look at the top 5... you can make the same debate for TCU and Boise State. OSU makes the most sense at no. 1 right now in my opinion.

Don't they ALWAYS have a creampuff schedule? And then they get to a bowl game and play decent competition and get beat...hmmmmmm.... That should say somethin.

Ya, this year the Iron Bowl will actually mean something for the first time in a long time.

Yeah, and 4/6 teams are in the SECW.
That says a lot about our conference. The next big game is Arkansas vs Auburn this weekend. Next big one is LSU @ Auburn on the 23rd. I have no doubt Bama rips Ole Miss & Tennessee new ones. As far as the east goes, I'm keeping an eye on South Carolina possibly stumbling on one of the lesser teams in the east - Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee. Doubt it happens, I have the gamecocks winning the SECE. But, stranger things have happened!

Oh yeah. And I'm not sure if this is a bold call or not, but I've got Iowa over Ohio State in late November. I do not buy in on all that hype.

They play 3 ranked teams all year. Miami, Wisconsin, and Iowa. Cake schedule (I do realize this was said a few posts ago) but IMO Iowa has a legit team and should pull the upset.

Really? They beat No. 2 Oregon in the Rose Bowl last year. Is Oregon not good either?

I can promise you Iowa will win this game, not from a biased stand point, but being realistic.

We went into Ohio State last year where our freshmen QB got his first start filling in for the injured Ricky Stanzi. What happened? We took them into OT. This year the game is at home. As long as the Hawks stay healthy there is not a doubt in my mind we will beat OSU. My bigger concern on the Hawks schedule is MSU.

Yeah, MSU is on quite a roll this year. That should be a good game. Just remember that Notre Dame took them to OT. LOVED the way they won that game. And they have the feel-good story going for them too. They have faults though, Iowa just needs to expose them. You can bet I'm pulling for yall.

I hope you're right about Bama. A couple of weeks of beat downs might be just the medicine we need... then a week off, then down in Baton Rouge.

I think SC goes to the SECC this year. I hope we make it back to get another shot at them.

I could be wrong about this, but the Iron Bowl has never actually meant anything other than being a rivalry. I believe I read that the SEC West has been wrapped up (by one of the 6 SEC West teams, not just AU/UA) before the game has been played every year since the SECC came about in 1992.

This year could be the first time it ever determines the team that goes to ATL.

I'm just glad it's in Tuscaloosa.

As a Carolina fan for 30+ years I can say for sure that them stumbling is a concern. 1984 after beating FSU soundly, going to 9-0, and being ranked 2nd, they promptly went to Navy and lost. This was a great win Saturday, and I hope that the team stays focused. Kentucky played Auburn tough, and Vandy put up 52 this past weekend. You just can't take any SEC team for granted.

I think Bama rebounds and makes it to the SECC for a rematch with USC (hopefully). It is definitely an interesting year in the SEC!

This was a great win for USC but they have to be ready for the other SEC East teams. This is what makes the SEC so great, every weekend there is a chance for an upset! I hope to see Carolina play Alabama again in ATL. That would be another great game to watch!

    Hell no.

I shattered it on the floor, swept half of the pieces up and shipped them to a friend in Hawaii to be dumped into an active volcano. I've melted down the half that I did not ship West and will be sending out the resulting molded-glass paper weights to friends all over the country for their birthdays.

Dont forget about a couple years ago when yall made it to #6...and then crashed and burned...

my team has the same problem...or we stumble early...

either way...while it was an impressive win...i'll hold on being impressed until they finish the season

I'm all for giving credit where its due...even if its to the shamecocks...but i know all too well how Clemson and Carolina finish...and i'm waiting for cliff...i think clemson already went over the edge

I really really really really really really want another shot at South Carolina.

In order for Alabama to have any shot at getting back to the NC game, we need all of our opponents to do well. I'm in the uncomfortable position of hoping that auburn wins until we meet them. Same with La State. Same with SC. Except for when they play SC, the same goes for the Gators.

(Yes, I realize that even with no more losses and every opponent doing well, we have very little chance of getting back to the NC game. Just dreaming.....)

I could not agree more! I want to believe they have turned the corner, but have been disappointed too many times before. BTW, I pull for the Tigers when they are not playing USC. I like to see the home state represented. Hope they can turn things around up there (except for that last game in November of course).:D
