    The song of your people.

I’d imagine you’re falling way short on protein. Curious to see what you find.

I love meats too - I know I’ll barely be able to hold this diet. Just something I’m trying out.

Only benefit so far is waking up with more energy and feeling better after meals.

Yes I still eat dairy and eggs. No vegan for me. I do try and have oat milk though.

Primary sport is running. I’ve moved to powerlifting (5x5’s and all heavy weights). Surfing is a second sport.

Honestly just wanted to try it out. I will be honest, I have yet to feel that slump I get when I eat meat. I can eat a meal and be full of energy - Maybe it’s also because my portions are being cut down.

The bright side to all these “diets” is that it keeps people eating marginally less shit

I won’t lie at all. This is my first “nice” belt and it’s a size that I’ll be able to use for a very long time ANDDDD I finally got a check from the new job that puts me in the green again rather than going down hill like I was while unemployed. So i treated myself to a nice one.

I’ve had some ready good, and some really bad. Haha

I have a friend who makes some killer goat yogurt and cheeses. You’d never know it was from a giant

The biggest issue we have in nutritional research is lack of quality controlled longitudinal research. Obviously finding participants to follow diet plans, or find enough people willing to be on a diet and be followed for 20 years is a challenge.
Plus the amount of funding those studies require is immense.
Outside of the high carb, mod protein, low fat diet we have virtually no longitudinal research on diets. The Framingham studies are about the most comprehensive ones we have.

The issue with studying a lot of the various dietary restriction diets (keto, paleo, carnivore, vegan etc.) is that frequently they are compared to the Standard American Diet (SAD). Which is high carb, low fat, moderate protein and loaded with processed foods which have minimal to no micronutrient value.
The SAD causes obesity, diabetes, and heart disease (and likely cancer). We know this because look at Americans.
Well many of the studies look at plant based diets only compare the diet and the SAD. The evidence says the plant based diet is healthier than the SAD... Well no shit. But those biased researchers take it a step further and state the reason for the study data being favorable to the plant based diet is all due to the animal products.
Thats really not an appropriate extrapolation of that data and you cannot claim that.

I’d love to see a study on veganism vs keto or paleo. Follow people who have done it at least 5 years who are similar in things like age and activity level and run the same data.

Almost any diet is better than the SAD so lets stop using that as a comparison.

I avoid soy because its not recommended for people with Hashi’s. Its a food that tends to piss off our thyroid.
BUT funny story. My BIL is a vet. A feline patient of his was pretty obese (25lbs). His owner went extreme and put him on a dairy free, chicken free, grain free, gluten free, very low carb diet.
The diet was basically pure soy. Cat lost a lot of weight over the next year. But around that time my BIL had to see him because he had begun lactating due to his elevated estrogen levels LOL.

Now we are not cats and probably wouldn’t consume THAT much soy but still I think its funny.

    Wut kind of runner?
    I’m a long distance runner.

I’ve been doing keto the last 3-4 months. I’m going back to it once I’m off my meds from surgery.
I recently read Finding Ultra by Rich Roll. Good book about a 40+ ex alcoholics journey into ultra sports. He’s vegan and beats that drum quite a bit in the book.
At the end he spends quite a bit of time explaining his nutritional approach but I kind of found it hard to get through with him misrepresenting the impact of a high fat low carb on health. Just tell me about your approach lets not trash other approaches to do it.
Thats what just rubs me the wrong way about the plant based world. Stop using fear tactics and personal attacks to support your side. You can justify a plant based diet without all that, so please do it.
But arguing nutrition is like arguing religion. As a long distance runner I tell people I do keto and you can just see the fangs come out. They literally act like I just called their mother a cunt.
Why does me reducing my carb intake make you angry?

I’m curious how a vegan diet would feel. Maybe even vegan keto. But it would be a rough 30 day challenge for me lol.

I need to make a serious effort to quit dairy for a bit to see how that makes me feel.

Hahaha no. But I have cut out most dairy around the house. Rarely put cheese on anything anymore that we make at home. Most meals we do are pretty close to paleo though but we stopped being super strict about it.

I honestly couldn’t tell you. I still eat dairy when I go out. Or like when I made smoked Mac n cheese. Really, the only reason I cut the dairy out is because my girlfriend has lactose intolerance so we just don’t use it at home

I make a Mac and cheese with smoked cheddar when I can find it. Sweet mercy it’s awesome. It’s extremely expensive though so I don’t do it often.

Made it 16 hours since my last meal. First time ever that I am aware of... I feel fine. Pretty empty feeling... Feeling light though, lol.

Broke my fast with 2.5 cups Jasimine, 6 oz grass fed ground beef and 2 eggs over easy.

Cant fast much on weekdays, so Saturday and Sunday is my best chance. Oh and the fiance didn't die by not eating. Wow, unbelievable right? Lol
